Brand Finance: ESPN brand value up 21% from 2017 to 2018
According to Brand Finance, the world's leading brand-value consultant agency, ESPN's brand value increased by 21% this past year, from $4.4B to $5.3B, and has a AAA brand value rating. Keep this in mind when predicting its demise:

ESPN may still have a brand, but the interesting thing will be how its content changes moving forward. The NFL/ESPN relationship will be fascinating to watch in the coming years. The draft, for the first time ever, will be aired on Fox this year. MNF will be a free agent in 3-years. ESPN has complained about its NFL schedule, which is viewed as inferior to CBS, Fox and NBC packaging. ESPN has also lost the NFL Wild Card game. How would Disney/ABC/ESPN continue its strong foothold on sports content without any professional football content?

Yet ESPN is losing subscribers by the million each year.

So maybe the two aren't closely connected, such that chortling about subscriber loss is really misplaced.

E.g., Google's brand value is through the roof but they have zero subscribers.
