RE: Update Temple Stadium
It's a good looking concept. I hope they can get it built. How many other AAC stadiums like that are built in such an urban area ?

Let's hope -- it would be great for Temple to break free from the Eagles and the Linc.

Hope they add the graffiti to the outside of the stadium in the next round of the proposal...**

Good to see more information. I did not expect the entrances to be where they are at. The crowd focus will be on Broad Street and the west side where most of the campus is at.
It's also interesting how Temple thinks that most of the approvals will be obtained by June.

If that is the case, then maybe they have gotten the blessings of the people in the area that were so enamored with stopping it in the first place ?

Nothing short of bags of millions of dollars will do that.

So opening game in new stadium in 2021? So far we have Boston College at home. American home games UConn, UCF, Navy, Houston. I’m thinking Navy.

From what I can tell in the pictures it looks kinda like Tulsa's H.A. Chapman stadium if it were built in modern times. Fairly similar in size and shape. Even the below ground portion is similar. Best of luck to Temple in getting it built.

Who knows? But a Temple spokesman said they expect approvals by June, so possibly something gets built. A statement like that indicates things are further along than ever before.

Good news - get back to us in June when the permits are secured. 04-cheers

only Yulman comes to mind having residential property immediately adjacent. Ford and Liberty Bowl have residential nearby, but there is buffer space around them so its not nearly as close.

If they expect to get their site and building permits by June then I would also assume that they have already selected a G.C. and that the G.C. has their subs lined up.

In addition, it would also tell us that the drawings are complete and are in for review with the AHJ.

If all of this is true then that is great news as they wouldn't have submitted for their site and building permits without also knowing that the rest of the issues with the neighbors are resolved.

What it indicates is that the extortion $$$ figure has been agreed upon for the freeloaders of the neighbourhood. They will get more freebies and free tuition, then turn around and bash the university.

Hmmmm. I wonder if Kenneysense was one of those freeloaders and the fact that we haven't seen him around for over a week is indication that he was finally paid off ?

Its about time for Temple to get this stadium done. Temple football has been wandering about for 41 years last playing in their own stadium in 1977 before leaving Temple Stadium on Mount Pleasant Avenue and Michener Street in Philly for the Vet and then the Linc. That stadium had seating for 20,000 and was expandable to 34,200. Interesting to note that the Eagles who want the Owls out of the Linc wanted to buy the old Temple stadium in 1952 when they wanted out of Shibe Park. Temple refused to sell the stadium to the Eagles and remained there for football through 1977. The stadium was demolished in 1996 and 1997 after it was used for other Temple sports programs when the football team moved to the Vet in 1978. 07-coffee3

Yeah it's reminiscent of Yulman, though in a more urban environment. Ours is urban by the definition of "in the middle of the city," but we're in a more residential area.

To the Temple fans too scared to hope this might actually happen: we definitely thought Yulman would never happen because of the neighbors, who are wealthy and well-connected, but our athletic department managed to make it happen. Honestly what y'all are saying right now about yours sounds exactly like the conversations Tulane fans were having when Yulman was first proposed. I think you're going to get your stadium. Just keep in mind that when you're working in close proximity to the rest of the city, you may not get everything that you want (or that's been proposed). Keep the faith, Temple fans!
