How about we just ask who beats Tulane first?
Baby steps....

That's easy. Who plays Tulane first? Sorry, Tulane...

My instinct is that UConn will rebound (whatever the definition) a little quicker than Memphis, due to a better core and a proven coach, but Penny is a wild card with recruits right now. Could be great or not. Roster is just too much in flux to have any real idea yet.

That's why this is a prediction thread... it's not much fun to wait until after then "predict" in hindsight ...

Yes, but the success rate is much higher.

I believe in Hurley, but there is no denying that the breakup of the old Big East and losing their coach hurt UConn. The appeal of playing CUSE, Villanova or G’Town in the Garden isn’t there anymore. Will be interesting to see if they can recruit on a high level and develop some new rivalries.

Yep, and Tubby is a future Hall of Fame D1 coach.

I think both will be on the same level until Penny gets those highly ranked recruits in 2019.

I say UConn because they're a state flagship. If they aren't careful though, they could slip and become a just another New England flagship. Think UMass outside the Cal years.

Win 25+ games? 2nd weekend in the tourney? Regular season Conference title?

Well, if it's winning tourney games, y'all better pray for both.

WSU, Memphis, and UCONN are this conference's only hopes in that department.

Pop Quiz:
Which AAC team won a NCAA tournament game this year?
A) Cincinnati
B)Wichita State
C) Houston
D) UConn

You guys have a great basketball program, rich in history and tradition... but Mick Cronin is never going to get you to where you want to go. He's hit his ceiling, and I hope your administration will come to that realization soon. You deserve better.

The fact that you have to think about that means no one went very far. :(

Dont hate on Houston. They had a fine season and unfortunately lost a heartbreaker to a team in the final four.

Yes and hurry up. ECU needs the money to upgrade our football.

Good answer. Good answer. 04-cheers
Also, I don't feel qualified to respond to the OP until after ECU gets basketball.

Or you could ask, which of these teams lost to a CUSA team in the NCAA tourney?

Hurley has a proven successful D1 head coaching resume. Penny's hiring made a big splash but with no D1 head coaching experience, it is a big question mark. Will he really bring all those top recruits to Memphis and keep them there? Gotta pick UConn.
