O.T. Heavenly BBQ
CNN reporter declares Salt Lick ‘heaven’ and starts a flame war on Twitter... guess that settles it. CNN knows best, right? Austin's got #1.

"Can’t everybody just let people like what they like and let it rest? I guess not when it comes to barbecue. (And, hey, pot calling kettle “black,” I confess.) And, especially when it comes to Salt Lick BBQ. CNN political analyst/serial hot taker/comedian Chris Cillizza did something he probably thought was fairly innocuous (and it should have been). He went to an unarguably charming and pastoral setting (Salt Lick), ate some barbecue and declared he had found heaven. Trust me, after living in D.C. and eating some barbecue out that way and points further north, I have no doubt that for a District denizen drifting into Driftwood, the Salt Lick would feel heavenly, especially on a beautiful spring evening when twilight seems to last for four hours."

I mean its definitely good.... but not nearly as good as it used to be. Its also was never even close to being the best bbq joint in texas.

On my Austin/Central Texas BBQ trip in September, Jasper's was surprisingly my favorite.

Ive got no real problem with Salt Lick. I always liked spending the day out there and doing Hamilton Pool before or after. Its not bad but not the best by a mile.

I heard there is some new Valentina Tex Mex Style BBQ Place that all the stupid annoying hipster Austin Foodies go to now.

The dude from LA BBQ in Austin moved here (Charleston) a few years ago and started Lewis BBQ. Its pretty good...kindof reminds me of Pecan Lodge in Dallas.

BBQ is pulled pork.

BBQ is not ribs. Nor is it brisket. Nor is it a verb.

End of lesson.

Obviously BK will **** up all three sandwiches.

I would assume NC got two cause some dumbasses in the western part of the state make bbq sauce out of mustard instead of vinegar.

Right there with ya my man. I remember this being one of the BETTER selections from Pandora's Box. Gelatinous ice cold Chicken-Ala-King for breakfast on a January morning still haunts me to this day....

You Carolina folks just need to come up with a different moniker to avoid confusion with what the rest of the country considers as falling under the BBQ umbrella.

"Meat with Embalming Fluid" would be appropriate, but doesn't exactly roll off the tongue.

Such a narrow view point. But you are right about it being a noun.
