Besides his 7 technical fouls and his **** attitude, I will miss him and wish him luck. But if our roster stands as is, we have no frontcourt, and I imagine we wouldn't finish in the top half of the conference. Looking forward to see who we land as a result. We now have 2 scholarships available for next season.

He was an ass but hate this happened to you guys. Hurts not just you but the conference as a whole. Doesn't bode well when the teams we count on to keep the upper half of CUSA strong start losing their best players prematurely. Hope you guys get a good graduate transfer we're not going after.

Really?

You fall for it that easily?

I thought it was rather suspicious, but I wanted to let everyone know where I stand on intra-Conference transfers.

All this time he just wanted an easier class load...

I guess he wanted to be paid.

Fair enough, suffice it to say, the first we heard about it wouldn't be a tweet, midthread, posted by a Western fan.

If there were even whispers of this as a possibility, it would have been a hornets nest around here already.

To add fuel to some fire here, this information came from a poster on the ODU board, and I quote his/her post:

Quote:Had lunch with a former player today. Porter leaving is all about exposure. Has nothing to do with the staff. Has nothing to da with the offensive system. It is all about exposure.

When I said, but if you are good enough the scouts will find you. He said “true. But CUSA doesn’t make it easy.” Referring to our TV deals.

Baloney.Scouts will go anywhere. It is not like you are in some small town in North Dakota.

The main exposure players should think about is playing time.

Perhaps he meant NCAAT exposure. Kermit wasn't the only one who noticed how near impossible it is to dance.

You can play in DII of the NAIA who never gets on TV and if you are good enough the NBA scouts will find you. If NBA scouts find players overseas in some of the most obscure overseas basketball leagues where 2 people may show up to watch they will def. find you in CUSA.

So if the statement above is a true quote then thats just a cop out plain and simple.

Or bad advice, he may just be repeating what he's being told by those waiting for a piece if he makes it to the pros.

Though to play devil's advocate, more exposure can't be a bad thing, you have an off night in front of scouts in CUSA, you might not get another chance to impress.

Scouts don't just work on a one game impression. Most of the time each game that is played in DI either has an NBA scout from one team or anther or a contracted scout that evaluates talent for the NBA overall. No matter where you are if you have the talent NBA scouts will know about you. With that being said less the .5% that play basketball at any level under the NBA ever makes the show.

Yeah, I get that, but every time you're on tv you're giving yourself better odds.

While if he's got what it takes he can certainly get there from ODU, it's disingenuous to suggest that it is literally just as easy no matter where you are.

At this point does moving to another program really help? Probably not, but in a world where the differences of making it or not can be razor thin, I don't think it's as cut and dry as you suggest.

Kids want to play on TV. Not Facebook. Can't say I blame him.

We are gonna suck next year. If we somehow finish in the top 6 it'll be a miracle.

I'll wait to pass judgement after the final 4 and we see which transfer comes in. Jones is there and I'm sure talking to folks... at least I would hope so.

Posted from mobile device. Hopefully it's coherent.

I agree with that. Elmore got more exposure from that one tournament win than everything else he's done for 3 years. Porter may have noticed that.

When a lot of people are watching, and more tune in to a close game where the lead keeps changing, and they talk about you for 2 straight hours with all of them watching, that kind of exposure is hard to duplicate in CUSA any other way.
