Exclamation Let the Chris Mack era begin at Louisville
Great Chris Mack Article. I like this guy! And I am glad all of the Pitino drama is gone.

RE: Let the Chris Mack era begin at Louisville
Yes ...

I am glad that a huge hunk of the seemingly never ending turmoil that has engulfed the men's basketball program can finally come to a close. There will be more to overcome ... but all the transgressions were committed by those in our past.

Chris Mack was not my guy ... as shown by others in another thread on this forum ... but I am ready to get behind the new guy.

I was impressed by what he showed yesterday. And after reading up on him in more detail, I am hopeful for the future. Time will obviously tell ... but ...

I am glad he only promised to get to work. That fits this fan base for sure.

A fan base that has had to put up their own money to fund things like a new football stadium, which would have never gotten off the ground without that personal financial commitment from those hard core fans.

A school that had to trade grade A commercial property off the Shelby campus in eastern Jefferson County worth tens of millions of dollars, in return for a brown field toxic dump, that the state needed to get rid of ... the state basically saying "you want to build a football stadium? there ... go clean that up, and build your football stadium on that U of L".

A fan base that was again bullied by the state, and city government, being told "No ... you can't build a new basketball arena on campus, where it makes financial sense. You need to go build it on the river, downtown, where it will cost $100 million dollars MORE." So that the city can clean up an electric company power station and eye sore on Main Street, and attract new development downtown ... and hopefully an NBA franchise. So the U of L fanbase is saddled with the financial albatross, and then blamed for the economic woes of that arena they wanted to build elsewhere, for a much more reasonable cost.

So it is fitting, to have the new basketball coach say, that the only thing he will promise is hard work. Well we are used to that. It makes sense, and it resonates with us.

I hope that he is the guy to lead our hoops team to success ... despite the detractors in this state, and even in this very city, that hope he won't achieve the highest heights this program has achieved in the past.

I'm excited again for the basketball season, I can't wait for it to start. Seemed like this season I was just waiting for it to end. We have two great leaders in place now, Tyra & Mack, & hopefully soon we will have a new president. I think we need a pep rally @ 4th Street Live to welcome Mack & honor the women's team. A celebration maybe just what this fan base needs now to get revitalized!
