None other than Bearcat Ian Happ leading off for the Cubs in their home opener today.

Wish the Reds could have traded up to get him. Does anyone expect Tyler Stephenson to make much of an impact? I just dont think Billy Hamilton is ever going to be able to produce with while batting 235, I think he is gone next year anyways. Happ would have been a nice option for CF or Left with Duvall moving to Center.

He needs his OBS to be closer to 350 and I just dont ever seeing that happening at this point. His defense is great.

Billy Hamilton is what he is. I think he's a good 5th outfielder because he's an elite defender and could be used as a pinch runner late. I think the ship has sailed on him ever hitting.

Why does a thread celebrating a Bearcat in MLB get ruined by talking about the pro team in Cincinnati?

I too was hoping the Reds could get him. I think with all the trading/drafting the Reds have been doing for catchers - took 2 in the Rule 5 draft last year and traded for Tim Wallach's son, I don't think they are high on Stephenson any more.

Or bunting...

Unbelievable.

He still has trade value...

Didnt Stephenson have some sort of injury? I think he is still in low A ball so may never pan out. Wish they could better develop farm talent instead of overpaying for players like Bailey and Hamilton.

I think the could be attractive to certain teams as a middle of the lineup hitter/pinch runner/bench player, but not as.the lead off the Reds tried to turn him into. They my as well try to get something for him while there is still a market.

A Reds team with Hamilton as one of the top 3 OFs is not one that has the sufficient resources to make the playoffs.

RE: Ian Happ
Congrats to Mr Happ. Another Baseball Bearcat making waves in the MLB. Glad he didn’t go to the Reds and to a contender.

Overpaying for Hamilton? Did he sign a new contract that I didn't see?

Umm, you can't trade regular picks in the MLB draft.

A few years back in a game at Ohio St., he swung and his bat flew out of his hands into the stands. It hit me right in the leg.

I am honored.
