Quote from the AP article on the game:
North Texas also has only two seniors. "All the guys that played in this tournament, we return everybody," McCasland said. The CBI title could portend bigger things. The 2015 and 2016 champions, Loyola-Chicago and Nevada, reached at least the Sweet 16 in this season's NCAA tournament, with Loyola getting to the Final Four.

I was at the game with two of my kids sitting behind the small USF fan section. USF's coach was very a very ... excitable... guy. There were several times during the game he was close to earning a technical.
It was a great crowd and fun way to end the season. We stayed through the entire net cutting ceremony since that doesn't happen all the time. McCasland has done a terrific job rebuilding this team in less than one year on the job. Looking forward to see what happens next season.

This is awesome news for North Texas and CUSA.
6,300 is a great crowd to build off of going forward. This proves how important the CBI tournament can be if you go win it like you did.
Dang, pretty cool that half the conference got to 20 wins this year.
Is this conference finally starting to get settled in and starting to trend?

Things are looking good for next year. A few weeks ago, McCasland added the 18th ranked player in Texas to next his recruiting class. Very excited about what North Texas might do in the 2018-19 season.
It seems many of C-USA's programs are bringing back their top talent. I sure hope our conference can make more noise next season. As it stands now, I think many would agree that Middle Tennessee and WKU deserved a closer look from the committee, ODU should have been invited to the NIT, and Marshall did an amazing job of representing C-USA in the tournament.
After a banner year for C-USA football and basketball, I wish our baseball playing members the best of luck with their seasons. We endure too much talk of realigning, and need to stand united. With the success we are collectively having as a conference, I see no reason to disrupt the progress we are making.
I'm proud North Texas is a member of C-USA. I'm glad our conference logo was on our court for all watching to see. I expect North Texas to preform well and represent our conference in a positive way. I believe that is how conferences improve their lot.

Ouch! But you are not wrong. It definitely cooled the burn of the FAU and Troy losses. At least until I go into full off-season mode and begin massively overthinking sports results that I have absolutely no control of whatsoever.

Congratulations on the championship. The crowd looked good on tv. If you guys can sustain those types of crowds until the CUSA tournament it will pay dividends. Frisco will turn into the good basketball atmosphere CUSA envisioned.
