RE: And Just Like That...
MTSU has been very lucky to hold onto their coaches as long as they have.....Its simply unheard of for a program with not that much history to have 3 successful coaches in 3 major sports for the long haul....Welcome to the norm MTSU......

However, all is not lost either minus maybe this upcoming season....Stansbury was in same predicament two seasons in a row really....First season is similar to what McDevit will face at MTSU that Stansbury faced, he had zero guards first year and this past season he had no one left besides Justin who only returned to hoops in August.....Not saying this season was unreal but finishing 35th in RPI was not a bad year....In today's college basketball world losing whole team and replacing whole team can work out sometimes if you can get the talent in to do it....

It's just the perfect storm. Losing our top 3 producers, our coach, and 3 of our best recruits in program history all at once. Next year has a high probability of being ugly. I have high hopes for our new coach though so I don't see a long term program decline.

You guys we're making me salty with all the success over there in the boro but I still feel for y'all.
It's a reality almost all teams face.
A reason i'm thrilled with our recent star alum hire, Penny won't leave us. A miracle right?
Hire an alum.

Best of luck, GTG

Try just a lil over half a decade. Davis was at Middle 16 years and it took him 9 years just to figure things out. I don't know how many programs would give someone almost a decade to do that

Davis at MT
SunBelt
02-03 16-14 (9-5)
03-04 17-12 (8-6)
04-05 19-12 (7-7)
05-06 16-12 (8-6)
06-07 15-17 (8-10)
07-08 17-15 (11-7)
08-09 18-14 (10-8)
09-10 19-14 (13-5) CIT First Round
10-11 16-16 (10-6)
11-12 27-7 (14-2) NIT Quarterfinals
12-13 28-6 (19-1) NCAA First Four
CUSA
13-14 29-9 (13-2)
14-15 19-17 (9-9) CIT First Round
15-16 25-10 (13-5) NCAA Round of 32
16-17 31-5 (17-1) NCAA Round of 32
17-18 25-8 (16-2) NIT Quarterfinals

Kermit will get 3 years at the most to get Ole Miss to the dance and if he doesn't he will be looking for another job. Surprised Ole Miss kept Kennedy as long as they did.

You come off as a little envious.

One losing season in those 16 years. How many in this conference can say that. Heck, how many in the nation can say that? Aside from '07 and '11 "solid" is probably a correct term for this era. What problem do you have with that?

That little over half a decade you mentioned wasn't just solid. It bordered on elite - considering the number of name brand and blue blood schools that were beaten by MT.

Envious no, just pointing out that it took him 9 years to figure things out and not many schools would give someone that long, not even mid to low major schools. That's just a fact. Just look at UTA they just fired the HC after winning 72 games in the last 3 years, stupid, yes but he didn't get the job done the AD wanted.

Kermit's first 9 years didn't have one 20 win season in it. He came close in 05 and 10 with 19 wins. In those 9 years he made the Sun Belt Finals twice. In 03 (Randy Wiel recruits) and 08. Both losses to WKU 64-52, 67-57.

Here is the question, will you allow Nick McDevitt 9 years to figure it out. I don't think so. Everyone in Murfreesboro will get quite restless if McDevitt doesn't get to the NCAA or NIT within 3 years.

Very true, something WKU fans didn't understand with prior coach.....Talent on court can overcome a lot of changes....
