I wonder if some of the enlighted and trustful users of the CSNbbs forums could provide me some theories about this fact. Is Arizona a southern state in reality ?

Well in general it's the fact that most of the people that live in the Greater Phoenix Metroplex are Kalifornia refugees, fleeing the benevolent love of the Democratic Peoples Party.

Arizona used to be really conservative. Barry Goldwater?
Its become a moderate Republican state, kind of like Virginia used to be, where Democrats had to be moderate to win.

The west is conservative in general. Pissed off over the Feds holding so much land. Huge bend toward libertarian ideals. Idaho and Utah and until fairly recently Arizona skewed conservative on social issues in large part thanks to Mormons.

California is weird mix of western libertarians and conservative ideas and social liberalism.

I think it was the WSJ bemoaning the loss of Sandra Day O'Connor on the Supreme Court which has become dominated by easterners, mostly Bos-Wash easterners. She understood those land issues in the west.

Just answering the question posted on the title of the thread: They and most of people from states like Wyoming, Idaho, Utah, Montana, and most of Nevada and Colorado still have a little bit of common sense unlike the West Coast rabble.
