Doubt he gets pitcher of the week but what an impressive outing for Walker Powell:

7 IP (complete game due to run rule)
Threw fewer than 10 pitches in 6 of the 7 innings
69 total pitches....51 strikes and 18 balls
Allowed 2 of the 3 hits in same inning which was when the run scored
All 3 hits allowed were singles
4 K, 1 BB
3 innings were 3 up/3 down while 2 other innings saw only 1 runner reach and both were due to errors by SS.
4th inning was only inning multiple batters reached base (1B, BB, DP, RBI 1B, K)

Proud of the way the USM team responded today after the game yesterday. Powell is really establishing himself as a solid weekend starter on the mound for the Eagles.

What a great opportunity weekend for MT.....unrealized.

Got the previously hapless Herd coming into town after defeating 15th ranked Vanderbilt. Sweep and you're only one game out of first place at the end of the weekend. Instead we get swept by a team that was 1-8 in conference. Not only swept but outscored 26-8. WTF? In keeping up with our new tradition: 21 batters walked or hit over the three games.

With the Sunday win, USM has now won 23 of the last 24 home weekend series (CUSA and OOC) going back to the last 2 weekend series of the 2015 season. The only one we've lost during this time frame was last year to ODU.
