That's probably the "why not", although I do think Pitt (WVU), Nebraska (Oklahoma), Texas A&M (Texas) and Missouri (Kansas) would all be interested in this. If Nebraska and Iowa both did it, that would allow the Big Ten schedule to remain balanced. So would Texas A&M / Missouri for the SEC. I also think Miami would probably like a reliable P5 OOC game too. The rest would have to be negotiated more carefully...

There's no reason for Miami or those other teams with no connection to the Big 12 teams to want to play the same Big 12 team every year, let alone play them two days after Thanksgiving every year.

You might as well suggest that Texas Tech play New Mexico State that weekend every year. At least NMSU, unlike those other teams, would actually be interested.

Also, the one thing that has been consistent in the CFP playoff is that no team with 2 or more losses has ever been chosen. Given that fact, no team with any kind of playoff aspiration is going to anchor themselves to an every-year, challenging non-con game that doesn't already exist. Nebraska isn't going to sign up to play OU every year. UT and A&M aren't going to play every year (and as noted above, humans might land on Mars before the next time those two teams play).

Bigger question, "Why doesn't the B12 do rivalry week?" Texas has been playing Oklahoma in mid-October lately. The rest of the games are all over the place.

Oklahoma plays Oklahoma St. Texas plays whichever Texas school they expect to be strongest in that particular year. Texas-OU is always played at the state fair in October.

Now I thought the current deal was to alternate between TCU and Tech because those two agreed (for some reason) to always play in Austin on Thanksgiving weekend so UT would always be the home team.

Is that no longer true?

UT moved off Thursday this year, so I don't think so. It was all about getting the TH night TV slot.

Well the Dallas Cowboys always get a home game on Thanksgiving Day, so why not?

Thanksgiving has been taken over by 3 NFL games.
