Yes, but .... just because something can clear doesn't mean you didn't suffer while you had it. If someone negligently infected you with gonorrhea, I'd say that's grounds for legal compensation as well even if you did get it cured.

The fact that it got cured mitigates the damage you suffered, doesn't eliminate it.

According to the Center for Disease Control Quo, the strain of gonorrhea going around today is virtually untouchable by antibiotics. Like staff it has developed a strain that actually feeds on some antibiotics and is resistant to most of the rest. So these things should not be treated lightly (no pun intended).

There are extreme strains of most every virulence, but day to day gonorrhea is quite treatable by a single dose of ceftriaxone. At least, that has generally been the case in the patients I have treated. Now if they present with PID, that's a different thing, but we're talking about the outpatient setting.

Back to the point though, as I figured, the initial article had the wrong diagnosis. I'm not sure there's a lawyer that would take on a suit with a fully, easily curable disease. As far as the amended circumstance goes, it'll be interesting to see what happens. I can't imagine someone being awarded a large some of money for a herpes transmission unless they were predisposed to it becoming wildly deciminated (ie they were immunocompromised). There are plenty of viral illnesses which stay with the host for life, and honestly, in an immunocompotent host HSV is probably one of the least troublesome ones. In most people it rarely flares and is easily treatable (not curable). In some people in never flares, and if it flares often, it's generally easy to suppress. Idk, I'd be more concerned about a flare of varicella than herpes honestly... Permanent severe unrelenting nerve pain? No thank you. Anyways, from a purely litiginous view, I'm interested to see how this turns out. From a medical point of view, always use protection and try not to be promiscuous. Herpes, G/C, trich; those are the relatively small players. HIV, to a degree syphillis, and of course unintended pregnancies, those are the BIG risks. My advice, just don't do it. Isn't worth the risk.

Good post. As far as this being litigious, Michael Vick was sued successfully by a woman for giving her herpes and at one point during the trial she proved he had it, by saying that he sought treatment for it under the alias "Ron Mexico"...
Now, I think she won lots of money for it, but I could be wrong. I think the Haas accuser could get paid for this.
*If you know you have it, then proceed to distribute without telling victim you had it. Hass and Ron Mexico knew that they had herpes when they distributed it to their unknowing victims.
