RE: ***SBNation AAC Preview: ECU - Scott Montgomery needs a miracle***
I watched a lot of LaTech games from Tony Peterson's last year before coming to ECU, and that offense was a well-oiled machine.

David Blackwell's Jacksonville State defenses were terrific.

So, our two key coordinators should be fine. It seems like we have been recruiting at a decent level, but you know how misleading recruit rankings can be.

So what it really comes down to is Scottie and the players. I kept hearing last year that our guys weren't tough enough. That they were soft. Well, unless they had a rigorous spring and are going to have to grind in camp this summer, I expect the same soft squad we saw the past two seasons. Hopefully coach Mo has made some adjustments to how they train and how the practice so we don't get outhit by an FCS squad again.

If we lose to A&T, I expect that we our actual attendance for the rest of the year will be about 10-15K/game.

Oh come on. . .

Tulsa will have to start talking attendance trash. . . Nobody wants that.

I'm not worried about the QBs. I think Herring leaves us in a better situation than Minshew or Sirk. As much as I miss Minshew for his experience, the WRs made him look better and he made them look worse. He zipped the ball to horrible spots and the receivers put up Herculean efforts to pull those balls in. In turn they missed out on a lot of the yards they would've gotten if they had gotten better throws.

The defensive line is where I'm worried. I think DBs will be better at tackling, but if the DL isn't getting pressure offenses will keep killing us down the field.

Our ceiling is a 6. I'm thinking 4.

If we beat A&T by 7 or less, I expect Mo to resign on September 2nd. If we lose, I expect him to resign on the way to the locker room.

Mo is only still the coach because Compher was never going to fire him. I think the odds of him being fired before the end of October are better than 50%.

This is what worries me, Blackwell had a great defense at the FCS level if he improves our defense but not enough yet we still don't make a bowl will he be fired along with Mo?

Mo is lucky that Hart has not been hired as the full time AD yet. If Hart were full time, then there would be no reason for Mo to even go into the season.

Yes there would be. You can't hire a quality legit full time HC at this point post spring practice. You'd be just going interim and that's not likely to produce any better results. He's got probably a 90-95% chance of being fired, but there's no real upgrade that's gonna happen in time to save 2018. It's gonna likely be another disaster and then hopefully Hart or whoever can hire the guy to right this.

I have a feeling that Tulane won't be a gimme this year. It's time for Willie Fritz to do his thing.

Tulane has a pulse now. they will always be behind the talent 8-ball for a couple of reasons but they are competent since Fritz has had time to put his fingerprints on things

Scottie needs a miracle, however, this is how I see 2018 going with him as Captain of the ship.
