Austin Peay, Morehead St and Jacksonville St are the three schools. Coastal Carolina already is an affiliate member. North Alabama is starting up a team when it goes DI.

The ASUN will have 10 members for beach in 2019.

RE: Three OVC schools affiliate with the A Sun for Beach Volleyball
I'm wondering if we might soon see women's 3 on 3 basketball (in either fall or spring) as a cheap and easy way to count some more female athletes for title IX.

I'd structure it like volleyball. 5-7 short sets with the first to 25 taking the set and the first to 3-4 sets wins the game. Only permit players to appear in one set a game forcing deep rosters for maximum participation. Counting some of the same kids 2-3 times worked well for running sports and now volleyball, why not basketball too?

Field Hockey is an easy add sport for women. Surprised more schools don't sponsor it.

Two OVC schools listed as having beach volleyball on a wiki site did not join. UT-Martin has beach volleyball right now but isn’t listed. EKU doesn’t have beach volleyball right now but they just had sand volleyball courts constructed. Perhaps the EKU cuts did the program in.

Beach volleyball is easy because a lot of schools just use the regular volleyball roster since it is a spring sport while regular volleyball is in the fall, allowing more players to get a full scholarship.

South Carolina only has one player that plays both, while College of Charleston basically has the entire volleyball team play beach volleyball.

We dropped field hockey for beach volleyball. Makes a lot more sense.

Lincoln Memorial also has beach volleyball. When EKU didn’t start beach, the OVC probably couldn’t sponsor it with six schools including Lincoln Memorial. LMU is DII, but have wanted DI for a while. They added sports where a DII school can play DI like men’s volleyball and beach volleyball. The OVC would be an ideal conference for LMU, and gives Morehead St a travel partner if EKU leaves. Doesn’t appear EKU is leaving now.

While a conference isn’t needed now as there are no auto bids, auto bids are projected to happen. What conference would Mo St affiliate with?

We are probably going to see tons of schools in warmer climates adding beach volleyball. It's cheap and there are plenty of girls to recruit from. Field hockey isn't all that widespread.

Right now, there is no championship for beach volleyball at all levels except for D1. A bunch of Florida schools at the D2 level could be an affiliate to the A-Sun as well from the D2.
