Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., plans to introduce legislation on Friday to decriminalize marijuana on the federal level, adding a high-profile advocate in the effort to decriminalize, legalize and normalize marijuana use in America.
Schumer's legislation would remove marijuana from the list of scheduled substances under a 1970 law that classifies marijuana as dangerous as heroin for legal and regulatory purposes. It would establish funding for women- and minority-owned marijuana businesses, require more research on the drug's public health impact, and maintain federal authority to regulate commercial advertising, similar to existing regulations for tobacco and alcohol.

it's a no-brainer.....it's sad it took the schmuckster to do it....
it's truly amazing how ill informed people are about a weed that comes from the soil.....
no differently than alcohol or ciggy butts, there will always be those that abuse.....
however, and I can easily say this with firm conviction, there isn't 0.0001 grams of weight in the addictive properties in my mary-j......there's no comparison....
most folks simply believe what they're spoon fed......

Why ? Cash grab by the government that will be pissed away like all other tax money.
Stop putting people in federal prison for 16 years for having 50 pounds of pot. A person will do 85% or 13.6 years which would be like a 68 year sentence if at the state level (KY) of a person only doing 1/5 before parole
This should be a states right and the feds butt the hell out....unless to level federal taxes a they do with Cigs.
Make it legal and states and feds tax the hell out of it. Which will open up a black market and then I'm OK with Federal laws dealing with that.

It's a choice isn't it? Expunge the crime or do the crime/time? America needs the workers! It's not what you do, it's who will hire you.
This is my fear. In my younger yeas I indulged in the weedy plant and one day I drove home after smoking it. Man, I was afraid that I was going really fast but when I looked at the speedometer I saw I was going 20 MPH. That was an eye opener. I realized how badly this weed screws up your brain. I never smoked it if I was going to do any driving. So what am I afraid of? Have you seen the drivers in this country drive and use the cell phone? One is bad enough, but to be under the influence and cell phone using is inviting more trouble.
You hear of accidents in the middle of nowhere, in beautiful weather, with no car problems that could have caused it and the first thing you think of is they were on the cell phone. Probably 90% of the time that's the cause.
