I've even seen a couple Auburn fans come on here and say that UCF is their National Champion. Maybe it's because they hate Bama and don't care, but what UCF is doing is a good start for all of us.

If they really want to end this then they can do the following:

8 team playoff.
Automatic bid for the following:

PAC12
BIG12
BIG10
SEC
ACC

Then a semi-automatic bid for the American provided that the winner has at least 10 wins (and that 10th win can include the conference title game) -OR- a top 25 ranking

Then an at large for the next best G5 team provided that they have at least 10 wins AND a spot in the top. Got to be both. Not either.

Then a final at large that can be anyone.

In theory, the G5 could have as many as three teams in the playoff - or none at all - but it at least gives an equitable opportunity.

Which means it will never happen.

I agree with you. What I meant by NIT was the very literal words in the name. The National Invitational Tournament. Only they get to decide who’s invited.

Yeah, that's just the BS they use to diss any good G5 team. (ie Houston, Boise State, UCF) Top P5 teams we would have to beat really play all their out of conference games AT HOME vs the likes of Mercer, The Citadel and South Dakota State. They want 3-4 automatic wins and win a few conference games and go to a major bowl or CFP. It will take a miracle for a G5 team to get to play the big boys and then run the table. While I kinda prefer UCF saying 'UNDEFEATED CHAMPIONS' I think the chasm between the P5 and G5 keeps growing and if they wont let half the teams in College Football even have a chance then F them what do we have to lose?

I don't like the "New Year's Six" mention up there. Would have preferred they just said 2014 Fiesta Bowl and 2018 Peach Bowl champions.
