Parrish has.
He says Jones will far and away be the best player on the floor for the Tigers.
That should be good enough for most Tiger fans.

I'll trust his opinion far more than yours.

Ask Parrish how many times he has seen him play-just came up on our radar recently

Gary is quoting what he heard from other college staffs that jones by far will be the most talented player on the team.

Yeah. GP has admitted many times that he doesn't follow recruiting that closely. I would be shocked if he has seen any of these guys play in HS or AAU.

I think this is the most likely, too. I like the 3 guard lineup, especially in our conference.

Just pointing out that it might not be a stretch (based on his skill set and our need) for Lomax to start from day 1. Someone mentioned it might take some time for Alex and Tyler to adjust to D1 ball. I don’t necessarily disagree; it may take some time. We’ll see.

The starting lineup will likely change over the course of the season.

Lomax, Brewton, Thornton, Davenport, Parks jr.

The lineups are intriguing.

And it ain't over.

I think we are winning a few this year.

Who is the comp so far?

Nowhere is your post do I see Martins name. The most ready to play, toughest and best defensive player on the team. Not only will he start, but he will get the most minutes at the 2-3 spots if healthy. I have not seen Jones play.

So, I started off by saying too early to make predictions then followed that with starting lineups will likely change over the course of the season.

Obviously, Martin is going to start.

I didn't mention Maurice either and he could be a starter.

But as the season wears on and according to where we stand and who we are playing, a lineup of Lomax, Harris, Jones, Davenport, Parks Jr. could develop

Martin could get hurt, the young guys could acclimate faster than we think, we may be out of contention for a post season so playing the younger guys to prepare for next year would make sense.

Who knows?

We could land two five stars and they might start.

When Martin sticks to his game of on the ball defense with that long wingspan and as off guard driving to the basket and open jumpers (not holding on to the ball), he in the best player on the team this year and will start.

I'll bet Martin is looking forward to NOT having to play the point.

Totally agree. Alex will get starter minutes all year - whether he starts or not.

But we don't even know what the full roster situation looks like, so...

Harris and Lomax are both undersized, 100-150 ranked freshman guards. They are going to have a significant learning curve. To expect much from them, especially the first half of the season is a little unreasonable to me. Brewton is still going to see a lot of minutes, as he should.
Brewton likely will see a lot of minutes but if his ball handling and ability to break pressure has not improved he will not start at the point.

RE: Next years team
I am curious what peoples expectations are with this current roster.

I understand people felt Pastner wasn't a great coach but he had at least 4 (Most years 5) guys rated higher than anyone on this team this coming year.

I think to expect going to the tourney based on our recruiting class would be unfair.

You have a great point. Josh was left a better roster and had a weaker CUSA to deal with. People expectations come from the fact AAC should be down. But it we sniffed the N.I.T. I wouldn't be disappointed, but I do like the fact that Penny would.

I found something interest on the University School Paper site. Here's the record for the 1st two years of all U of M coaches. Where do we think/want Penny to rank on this list?

Remember we have the AAC tourney at the FedEx Forum next March.

Wonder if the AAC office is regretting giving Ft. Worth the tournament for the 3 years after that?

I think the roster is not settled, and it could be final big pieces. Just based on the smoke that's out there.

Based upon the roster currently with maybe one more grad transfer add or big recruit...I've been thinking about this and I sort of compare it to Pastner's second year. He had a few experienced players in Witherspoon and Coleman. Then he added some key young foundation building players. I think that's where we are now. We just need that final big add to compare to Will Barton (maybe Jones is it).

That year we struggled in CUSA before the nice run through the conference tourney to qualify for the NCAA. The AAC is better than CUSA, so we may take some lumps. But NIT is certainly reasonable. Right now.

OOC maybe. We just need to do real well in the conference which should be down. If we are top 3 we should easily be in. I think we will be top 2.

Pastner added 4 top 100 guys to that squad...2 top 20 guys.

If we can add Wiseman or a similar talent I would say it is comparable. But Penny would have to perform much better managing/coaching that talent in his first year than Pastner did in order to sniff an at large in the AAC.

You guys do realize that recruiting is not even over yet, there will be transfers either in or out (or both) and y'all are putting us in very precise places in the conference standings. Carnac.
