I'm not saying a bunch of non-SBC fans are going to tune in to watch us on ESPN+, but the college football junkies probably will. That's less likely if you're playing on Facebook or Twitter.

If it is true "college football junkies", wouldn't they find and watch the game wherever it is streamed? Also why wouldn't a "college football junkies" prefer free facebook (that they already have) to pay-per-view ESPN+?

Because a junkie that has paid $4.99 for his ESPN+ package is probably not going to take time to venture on Facebook and search for a football game if he's already tuned into ESPN looking for a game to watch.

All I'm saying is Facebook and Twitter aren't the first platforms anyone thinks of when looking for a game to watch.

ESPN3 still has a long way to go - last year the games we had on there didn't even work half the time

Not sure what you're using. When I stream watchESPN through my Roku it often looks like internet of the late 90's with the buffering and pixelation. But when I cast the watchESPN app from my phone to the Chromecast it's crystal clear.

Maybe give that a try.

No one has the numbers yet. Still waiting on that to come out from a reliable source. But if the rumors are true, I like it.

You like playing on Facebook and Twitter vs. an ESPN platform? I know you guys got CBSSN for a few games, but overall you got jipped.

As far as the amount of eyes watching the Sun Belt brand from a national standpoint, the Sun Belt wins in that category with the media deal. I'm not saying a bunch of non-SBC fans are going to tune in to watch us on ESPN+, but the college football junkies probably will. That's less likely if you're playing on Facebook or Twitter. Besides, I'll take one home game on ESPN or ESPN2 on a Wednesday or Thursday if it means our name is going out across the country.

I do not particularly like that we have a significant number of games on Facebook and Twitter, but at least it is free. I really hate ESPN, and have since our days in the Sun Belt. I would never pay to watch a game being streamed on ESPN+. I'm glad they continue to hemorrhage viewers, and hope the trend continues.

So you would never pay $4.99/month for ESPN HD broadcasts, but you would pay for $10.95/month for CUSA TV (which is terrible quality) I assume? What about the bundled subscription a lot of you will need to have just to watch CBS Sports Network? From the sound of it, some of your CUSA football games may not even be aired at all on a network unless your school does an in-house broadcast. On the other hand, every single Sun Belt football game, basketball game, and more than half of the baseball and softball games will be aired on ESPN.

Yes. The quality of C-USATV streaming looks no worse then what ESPN3 produced, and the money goes to C-USA.

As for CBS Sports... I already have that channel.

I'd have to disagree with you big time. I purchased a couple of CUSA TV 24-hour passes this baseball season, one of them was Troy playing at UAB. The picture quality was nowhere near as good as ESPN3, the person operating the camera never, ever kept up with where the ball was hit to, and the only camera angle was a crappy view behind home plate with a net that made it look even worse. There was also no score box in the corner of the screen. It literally looked like a local high school broadcast.

At least with ESPN, we have what is just about similar to an SEC Network broadcast, with 5-6 camera angles, instant replays, and real-time stats.

It's like cousins at the kids table at Thanksgiving, we have to entertain ourselves because no one else is paying us attention, want to go outside and throw the football around? 04-cheers

Other than Air Force and Boise State, is anyone else in that conference really pulling in eyeballs?

Be honest with yourself, you have Colorado state, San Diego State, Nevada and others. The only conference that has more "household" names in G5 is the AAC. CUSA has just a few, that's it.
,
The 3 you listed are far from household names, sure they get some eyeballs from late night college football fans and degenerate gamblers but it's not like they are must-see TV.

Later time-zones definitely benefit them when it comes to getting their games on national TV.

No G5 other than a very few are must watch TV, but don't fool yourself, those I listed people have heard of, doesn't mean they are Alabama, but they aren't UNCC either. A common name is more marketable, end of story.

In my part of the country UNCC is a much bigger household name (as is Marshall) than San Diego St or Nevada. I'd bet recruits would be excited to possibly go to Charlotte instead of SDst until the went for a visit, saw the stadium, conference ratings and TV deal.
