Hate to say it - and I sure as hell hope I'm wrong, but: 9-3 with losses at NC, Memphis, and USF with a trip to either the Birmingham Bowl or St. Pete Bowl.

Hopefully the Birmingham Bowl so we can beat an SEC team again.

It’s a new coaching staff, it’s going to be a little rough. Based on the spring game, the offense looks pretty vanilla. Hardcore fans will say... that’s the coach keeping the playbook a secret... I tend to lean toward Huep is not as dynamic as Frost.

Its possible but did you see the offense Hype put up at missouri? Record number of yards and TDs in the SEC with 1/4 the talent we have here at UCF. They looked so slow but still put up big numbers.

Heup can put Milton in a clown custome and serve up circus catches.

Great in depth analysis of UCF and all of the AAC teams so far. My only complaint is his over the top use of the "g5" label rather than just analyzing our teams on an tbs level. I think he's objective on the raw data while pushing the g5 as some sort of lesser division subjectively as some sort of raw data objective fact. It's as though he's slyly making sure that we know our place while giving us a data shout out. Maybe I'm the only one who has noticed, if so carry on07-coffee307-coffee304-bow

I find it more likely that the former is more true than the latter, based on what we've seen.

Closed practices? Inconsequential scrimmage? Getting to know new and existing players? There's no reason at all to get intricate with the play calling. I'm surprised they threw that wrinkle in with Payton altogether.

Then again, what do you mean by dynamic? In 2016, Frost was going off the rails with trick plays and 2-pt conversions, but noticeably stopped almost altogether in 2017 and slowed things down. I heard on another forum that Frost was running some mid 80 plays per game, but in the spring game alone, with a running clock, there were almost 110?

I want to punch people in the face if they say g5. That is my passive aggressive personality. Later drink a beer with them after I tattoo P6 on their forehead.

I'm not sold on Heupel yet. Every time he's interviewed it looks like he just ate a bag of donuts. Everyone's saying how intense and focused he is, guess I have to see it to believe it.

The offense shouldn't have a big issue moving forward, though I hope they don't try to mold McKenzie into a pure pocket passer. We saw how that worked with Godfrey (even if that failed experiment led to Bortles). The defense has holes, but Shannon is a much better DC and we have a lot of transfer talent moving in.... hopefully some of them fit right in.

I like us at 10-2 right now. 10 wins (including bowl game) is a fair standard to set, imo. Lot of talent coming off am excellent team and a manageable schedule. Best thing is @UCONN first game of the season. @UCONN in the November sucks for us Florida boys.

@UCONN in August:

I can set your mind at ease. Heupel is a gritty intense competitor but a bit of a good ol boy in general which is why he is still so loved by OU.

He's really a disciple of of Leach so he's adept at being creative with the passing game and I would expect to see him use Milton much like last year. In fact I would say you will see something very similar to what he ran as qb at OU where he was a similar player. A lot of misdirection to put Milton in solid spots to make good decisions. Fast paced so the defense will struggle to adjust durring drives.

I think Heupel matches well with UCF, he's pretty seasoned as a coach now, and his staff looks really. He's young and looking to prove himself which matches the UCF program perfect right now.

Big question is what if....... undefeated and 25 plus win streak...........just how high?? You might even get the Bama fan base asking for UCF to face in the playoffs...... simply because that "feisty gnat must be killed."

Yeah i see ESPN FPI predicts we will lose road games to North Carolina and Memphis. UCF fans are down on Heupel but I like him and think it was good hire. We might be able to run the table as our schedule is kinda favorable and our rivals Memphis and USF will have 1st year QB's. And our out of conference opponents North Carolina, Pitt and FAU are beatable and 2 of those are at home. At least that is what i hope not just to be selfish but that will put some pressure to expand the playoffs.
