There wasn't any mention of Anderson playing this coming season in this article, so I wonder if his addition would have swayed the author's opinion as to the Coog's chances this year?

Deontay will be eligible. And that gives us the best starting safety duo in the conference to go along with Ed Oliver.

I thought Oliver was turning pro. What happened with that?

UH also has former top 150 player Isaiah Chambers on the D Line with Ed. I feel bad for the OL in this conference. Add Terence Williams and Raon Singleton to our offense and we could be in for a very special year.

feel bad for what? they'll be better off for it. one of the things that helped mike hughes become a first rounder was that along with his production he played against impressive competition: anthony miller, dj moore, courtland sutton, trey quinn, marquez valdez-scanting and he went up against tre'quan smith in practice.

UCF should be in its own tier.

If Frost was back they would be. Given the coaching change there is enough uncertainty and the teams behind them are good enough that I think including them with the others is completely reasonable.

RE: SBN's 2018 AAC FB Power Rankings
ucf fans seem confident..they should be..but like i said we'll see

Houston was the best defense in the AAC last year that is projected to get way better...bill c said his computers are projecting houston to be 9-3 and his computers are projecting Houston's bad offense from last year to be even worse next year

bill c says there is almost no chance our offense gets worse (his computers arent accounting for our change in OC)...the new oc has had numerous #1 ranked offenses, and has only been outside the top 10 once in his career, that was the year the scandal hit and flipped their team upside down...that offense would still be drastically better than what we put last year

1) shea patterson got a waiver: the likelyhood of the top 50 recruit we got from ole miss getting 1 is extremely high
2) we are rumored to be trying to get a few grad transfers this summer--im not calling it a lock like the others but if we land a few of the ones i hope we land, every single position group for houston could be scary...

i really cant wait till next season

lmao apparently UH fans are confident too... to me the new coaching staff hasn’t proven themselves and we are fairly inexperienced at many skill positions, our OL isn’t anything great either.

I agree defense could be pretty damn good if they can get the right schemes to take advantage of talent.

Maybe we lose to Tulane OR Tulsa this year and not Tulane AND Tulsa.

I think 9-3 seems to be a reasonable expectation given the schedule but those “tier 2/3” teams will all put up a fight. Outside shot of a special season if What you say about Briles is true we might be heading to NY6, I’m not there yet given last seasons struggles and inconsistencies.

We’ve got an ole miss 4 star waiting on his ruling as well

thats why i noted the grad transfers,i hate saying recruits names before they are official, i feel thats a jinx..but there are currently 6 grad transfers considering UH (4 of which were former 4stars)..3 of them are rumored to be on a Houston lean

i know houston has some holes, but honestly even with those holes id still have houston favored in every game if no one else came...but ill acknowledge upsets happens

wr depth is an issue, you couldnt name a single wr outside of the top 3..but i loved what i saw from the guys in the spring game (and note this is an area expected to change with grad transfers, i can name 5 wr grad transfers linked to houston)

we have a lot of returning CB, none of them are touted...but if you look at the stats they werent bad last year (also we dont play a single touted passing qb all season)..(also this might change depending on how grad transfers playout)

and our OL isnt dominant but its not bad...we return all but 2 from the 2 deep last year and return eloph from injury..the oline is jam packed with 3 and 4 year players....the oline looked great in the spring game, and numerous guys were held out like noble

every other position group i put top 3 against anyone in the aac
and positions like rb which are already good could become amazing if grad transfer rumors end up being true

i know people just dont like applewhite, but i cant judge a team simple off not liking a coach, im not wired that way..i look at the team, the offense was what was bad last year, that offense is gone, an elite OC added, and that oc put together the most productive offensive spring game since 2011 and half the offense didnt even play

it would be so crazy if they didn't get eligibility, and the one player that went to a blue blood got eligibilty
