I'm hoping so, too, for Gentry personally - if he's willing to (I'm assuming) abide to some strict rules, I think getting back in the football program would be very beneficial to him (or anyone in his situation, for that matter). I don't know anything about him or what exactly was involved other than what the paper has printed, but I do wish him the best of luck to his future.

Those that truly want a second chance and are willing to change for it should have one. If he wants to be different from what he was, I hope we give him the opportunity at school first and football as well.

DITTO Jared would definitely make an impact on the defense and the team as a whole, if his desire is in the right place.....Teams need mentors now more than EVER! and pretty sure that Norvell would welcome him in a role such as aforementioned 04-rock04-rock

Maybe he comes back; takes a redshirt year while in the diversion program, then is fully reinstated the next year ...

I'd like to see him come back. Seems like he got hammered pretty hard on the charges. Glad to see him getting into Diversion.

He missed all last season and last half of year before. A redshirt would be almost 2 1/2 years away. If he is cleared , bring him back, if not ,let him move on.

One way or another I hope to see him play somewhere. Being part of a team gives him the best chance to stay away from the bad things in life.

Normally I would probably agree; but it didn't seem to help before

Question if he were a band member would everyone still be so fired up about giving him a second chance? Would you be willing to give him a second chance at school if part of his diversion is that he could not play football? If you are really concerned about the kid then you need to take his ability to play football out of the equation.

I think he deserves a second chance, but not necessarily here. I would maybe take a chance on a player that was in the same situation at another school, but it is probably best for Gentry to get a fresh start somewhere else.

Agree. He needs to go to a school in a different state to get out of his familiarity with the hood for a change. It'd do him good. New life lessons.

Hell ... I'd give a second chance to the glee club's tenor ... Short leash him ... Red shirt .. Suspend ... It's pot ... Not assault, theft, coke, meth ... In a few years (Tennessee time) he buys it legal on Highland. 05-stirthepot

honestly, i doubt a band member would get the notoriety a football player would receive. that just the way things work out.

Not sure what you are talking about. Jared Gentry is a country boy from out of state.

Jared Gentry DL 6-2 305 Jr./2L Opelika, Ala./Opelika HS

And he absolutely deserves a second chance here.

You got me corrected. Thanks. Anyway, it's good for anyone to go to a different place for a fresh start.
