Tulane has for a long time been a good baseball program also... If Tulane and Wichita State perform as they should AAC should get 4-7 in regularly.

My guess would be 4. Too much friendly fire in conference play is going to prevent a few teams from getting in. Bewtween UCF, USF, Houston, and Wichita, two of these will keep the other two from getting in.

However, 6 teams would be great though.

Gainesville is fine with me, already won the season sweet of the gators, lets make it a postseason sweep too. I'd prefer to avoid tallahassee.

5-6 teams would be great and not impossible. Some factors making it tough:
Polls. Polls are one of the major factors committee members look at. Unlike RPI, there will always be some inherent bias.
Committee members. The American currently has no representatives on the committee. Link
Number of open spots. After 31 automatic qualifiers, only 33 at-large openings. Link
Only 9 baseball members. Compared to as many as 14 for some other top conferences.

Some positives:
Wichita was a good baseball add for the conference.
High performance, RPI.
Getting good looks from organizations like D1 and Baseball America. They are listed as official polls on the NCAA website.

Looking good so far.

The lack of any AAC reps on any Selection Committee is a real problem for this conference. Yes, the conference rep is not present when their school/conference is discussed, but you are only kidding yourself if you don't think there are "we'll look out for you if you look out for me" kind of back-room deals.

Or that networking and positive impressions won't influence people. Inherent bias is a real thing and we need to tilt it in our favor. If ol'SEC Bob has lunch with Big 1G Joe then we need AAC Rich enjoying a steak and cracking jokes with them.

I would think the loss of Kansas St game would be the bigger deal. If AAC teams are killing everybody else, losing some in conference fights shouldn't hurt as bad.
