So will he get Pitcher of Week or USM’s Sandlin? Sandlin had a complete game shutout allowing 6 hits with 9 K?
I don't know but 13k? That's...

With CUSA you never know. Last weekend comparison:
A - CG shutout, 3 H, 10 K, 2 BB
B - 8 IP, 2 R (1 ER), 6 H, 10 K, 1 BB

Player B wins
PITCHER. OF. THE. WEEK.

Chance Kirby struck out a career-high 13 in a combined shutout win over Rice on Sunday. He's 4-4 with a 2.94 ERA with 56 strikeouts in 49.0 innings of work this spring.

Sandlin's numbers are rather ridiculous:
72 innings
0.88 ERA
9 R
7 ER
106 SO
10 BB
.153 opp avg

That being said, Kirby had a great outing a deserved the accolade. 13 Ks in 7.1 innings is impressive.

And thank you. Sandlin will get his. And his being the league's "Cy Young" Award. It's like 99 had mentioned, you just never know with c-usa.

Honestly, I would have gone with Kirby too.

Rice is a much, much better lineup than UAB.

Considering Sandlin has won conference and national awards for throwing 5 and 6 innings, the awards seem to place a premium on efficiency and K's rather than throwing complete games.

From my Friday night post on Sandlin after his CG shutout:
32 straight innings without an earned run while 26 consecutive innings allowing 0 runs.

you can bet the house that someone at USM is doing the research this week to find out what the USM/CUSA record is for consecutive scoreless innings pitched is as well as consecutive innings without allowing an earned run

Owl fans appreciate the good feelings, but we've sure struck out a lot this year: 387 times in 48 games (8.0625/game) ... compared with UAB's 288 wiffs in 45 games (6.4/game).

13 on Sunday .... arrrgh.
