They'll need to play well to beat OU and Miami this year, as those guys are going to give UC their best.

For momentum's sake --- Fickell and UC need a win that makes people take notice.

Outside of the opener at UCLA, however, no games of that type really exist until November.

Maybe the game at UCF can be Fickell's version of the 2006 Rutgers game. At least I hope.

Bolded, no doubt about that. MAC schools have given UC fits during some of the Bearcats' best seasons and with a still depleted roster those games will be challenging. Better win both though, as the final stretch of the season will be difficult and injuries and weather could play a part in earning bowl eligibility if UC doesn't notch six wins earlier.

Need to be competitive against UCLA. Its an assumed loss nationally, so not much to lose. Pulling off a win would be huge!

UCLA vs Cincinnati preview

Not sure what to think of this ucla site i found. They seemed to have quality assessments, but then predicted an eye popping 45-13 final score. Its hard to beat ANYONE by that margin, especially first game of the year for a team coming off a 6-7 season with a new head coach.

As a bearcat fan i'd consider that prediction within the realm of possibility as worst case scenario, but certainly not a viable prediction. Possibly an indicator of how low the level of respect we currently get nationally.

Here's hoping the UCLA players firmly believe that prediction when they're out partying the week before the game. A Bearcat upset will be that much more shocking to the nation (and Las Vegas) in that case.
