OT: ESPN+, UFC reach multiyear deal for live fights
Ole Mickey Mouse is getting desperate...sucks for UFC fans like me that love to see those UFC Fight Night fights on FS1 or Fox for free. Now those fights will be on ESPN+ with a subscription only. Lame. Seems like a bad deal for UFC. But then again, I'm pretty sure they get their bread and butter from the prime-time PPV fights that range in the 50-70$ range.

Yet another reason why I wish CUSA would be featured on ESPN+.

You need to be most consistent you ***** all the time about CUSA being on fox and CBSS and the SBC, MAC and others being on espn and espn3
Now you complain because a sport switches over to a espn network you have to pay to view and its not on Fox

Huh?
We used to get to watch UFC fights for free (relatively) on UFC Fight Night. Starting next year we can't do that anymore...without having to pay more money for a subscription. That's not fun. Fights on FS1 (no sub) = yay! Fights on ESPN+ (sub. req.) = boo!
What's so hard to understand?

Just stop watching UFC. You can probably go to the Walmart on 49 to see a similar ugly tattoo contest. And it's free.

if you don't have cable its a big win. Now you only have to pay $5 for ESPN+ instead of $25 for Sling Blue, the cheapest package with FS1

Pretty sure you have to have an ESPN subscription, which would be Orange ($20.00) plus the $5.00. Or is ESPN+ available as a stand alone?

I was under the impression that it was a standalone service, not an add on to WatchESPN.

Currently a Spectrum customer and found the new ESPN App on my Roku Device, programmed the app and able to watch ESPN content but when I tried to watch ESPN+ content, I was informed to view ESPN+, I had to pay the 4.95 a month fee.

Right, that's not the question, the question is whether or not ESPN+ is a standalone $4.99 service anyone can use or if it's only available to you at $4.99 if you're already an ESPN subscriber.

"ESPN+ is not a standalone service." With ESPN+ you cannot watch live ESPN programming (ESPNU, ESPN 2 and so on) - that would require a paid TV subscription (satellite, cable or streaming). However, even if you do have a paid subscription, you cannot access ESPN+ content - you have to pay the $4.95 a month fee.

You can get ESPN+ without having access or a subscription to ESPN (Traditional). Its like Netflix, anyone who wants it can subscribe.

You still aren't understanding the question, I understand that simply paying $4.99 a month won't get you ESPN, ESPN2, etc, but if what you care about is ESPN+ specific content, i.e., the UFC events this thread is about, can you pay for ESPN+ without having an ESPN subscription, my understanding is you can.

$DIS just reported a 23% EPS growth that easily beat Wall Street estimates and cash flow is up 48%.

ESPN+ is not a stand alone service. You must already have ESPN to add on ESPN+.

My mistake. As mentioned in a previous post by solohawks, you don't need a subscription to ESPN to sign up for ESPN+

That's not the case, unless I'm missing something. I'm signed up through Spectrum and when I tried to access ESPN+, I was informed I had to pay the $4.95.

I was wrong then. I just signed up for the free seven day trial. Makes it even more irritating that CUSA is not on ESPN+. I could cancel my entire cable bill, CUSA tv, and just pay the $50 annual subscription.

The whole thing is a big ripoff to me, including the UFC deal. I pay for ESPN and to watch ESPN+, I have to pay more.
I'm not a big UFC follower but many I know are.
UFC Fight Pass is 7.99 to 9.99 a month
ESPN+ 49.99 for a year
PPV's $50 each
Alot of that adds up.
