If everyone strolled and danced...graduation ceremony would take 8 hours...

If that is going to be the policy, then apply it equally across the board. Plenty of white students did similar things, some even did cartwheels; yet, they were not manhandled off the stage.

Indy were you at the graduation? Or do you have a link to what plenty means? Kinda nebulous.

Were you? Check out the example above provided by green. Don't see that individual being rushed off the stage by some loon.

When you consider how much time and money goes into a college degree, is it so much to allow a little celebration? Perhaps split into smaller groups, or offer students either an "express" graduation (no celebrating) or "long" version?
OTOH, if this really is another example of racism at an SEC school, shouldn't ACC schools start using this stuff in recruiting (if they aren't already). Not just athletes, either

So I take that as a No. As with everything social media...a thorough analysis is lacking.

I don't know about the black vs white treatment but these things have gotten out of hand. Sure you can celebrate but celebrate with your friends and family. Don't force the other 20,000 people that are there to endure your celebration. This is a college graduation not a football game. Celebrate like you actually learned something.
If it were a few grads that *might* be OK. When it turns into 1,000 you are just adding hours to the event.

Graduations are so boring and we pay so much for an education, depending on how long the dance routine was (between 5-8 sec optimal) I wouldn't mind.
....but we love making big deals outta nothing..... Just let'em dance.??
FLossY Out...

I'll agree to disagree...I'd like to get in and get out in under 2 hours...especially if you are sitting on bleachers.

It seemed that there were plenty of white kids who got "manhandled" as well.
The LAST thing I wanted to do when I graduated from college was go to the silly graduation. Who the hell needs that nonsense??? It doesn't add to your degree, or your knowledge, or your undergraduate experience. F that noise.

Have respect for your fellow graduates and dance on the way to your seat, in the street, or at your graduation party.
Every graduation I attend there will be a handful of people that'll cause a scene that prevents the next person's name from being heard.

I have no idea how many students were part of this graduating ceremony, but Florida is a pretty big school. So throwing out a random number, lets say 500 students waste 10 seconds celebrating. That would add almost an hour and a half to a ceremony that is already way too long. I've been a part of graduating ceremonies as both a grad and a guest. The last thing I would want is for those things to last any longer.

I hate to sit at those things even for my own kids. As soon as their names are called, Im ready to go. The problem is that our last name is Whitehead. By the time they get to the W's you might as well stay til the end.

So walk by major, with each group in a different location. If one group has an unusually high number of dancers, chances are the rest May not mind.
Still, I get what some of you are saying - it's selfish to assume others want to wait for you to finish your celebration.
