We did not have a robust inspection program in the Iran deal. Inspectors could inspect where Iran let them inspect, and there were no surprise inspections. And Iran got the money released up front, instead of releasing it over time in tranches, subject to Iran's good behavior.

What's readily available that I've seen, from any number of sources across the political spectrum, is that Iran designated certain places as being part of their nuclear program and gave inspectors access to those designated facilities, instead of unfettered access to the entire country. And it's a big country with lots of mountains to hide things under. And it's also my understanding, again from multiple sources ranging across the political spectrum, that inspection visits are to be scheduled in advance rather than conducted on a surprise basis.

If either or both of those are correct, very simply provide links to such information. If either is correct, then describing this as a "robust verification program" is simply a lie of the highest order, and no amount of ad hominems on your side will make it true.

And the release of funds--our only real leverage--came up from rather than being tied to continued goodwill on Iran's part.

So refute those statements or live with my interpretation.

The agreement may have been the best we could negotiate give the weakness of our position. But I'm quite certain that it is better than Iran's BATNA by a wide margin, and not at all certain that it was better than ours. The fact that, again as I understand from multiple sources across the spectrum, we never walked out of the meeting says that we didn't negotiate very hard.
