I'm surprised nobody is complaining about not putting this thread in the giant basketball thread.

GA Southern
Towson
Tenn Tech
Winthrop
Richmond
GWU
Elon
Sprinkle in what you can of:
UNC
NC State
Duke
Wake
Clemson
USCe
GT
UGA
UVA
Maryland
VT
No Coppin State, CCSU, Del State, Campbell, Grambling. If Rutgers, NC A&T, UNCW, and NCCU are your four worst games, fine. It's pretty easy to have a decent RPI if your OOC schedule is say:
VT
Wake
Davidson
CofC
ODU
MTSU
Furman
UNCA
UNCG
NC A&T
UNCW
NCCU
Other schools that should be on your list are WVU, Georgia State, Georgia, Florida State and Tennessee.
The strangest thing is that before Lebo got to ECU I seem to recall VT, Wake Forest and Clemson playing ECU at ECU. Wake Forest was number 1 in the Country one year when they played ECU at ECU. How could the miserable ECU coaches before Lebo get such good games, but miserable Lebo couldn't even get mid-major schools to show up.

I'm surprised Memphis fans could pry themselves from sniffing the freshly painted AAC conference championship jocks ol Peso made to celebrate his signing class to read a non-memphis thread.
Your passive aggressiveness got old 3 months ago.
This thread had nothing to do with the basketball news thread. It's a new coach talking hypotheticals and generalities about scheduling.
But hey let's start another thread about Peso's paper tigers and modes of transportation. On the conference board.

I know there are alot of folks that don't want to hear this...but if you can't beat the "gimme" programs why are we scheduling up. I think ECU needs to crawl before we walk in this conference. I agree we should get a few more marquee better RPI games in the non conference, but the fact is we still need to schedule some of the other games until we can prove we can regularly beat Campbell and other schools on that level. Further more what ECU really needs is a few years of success even if its manufactured to try to repair/create a fan base in the area. Its there, people want to love the program but getting slaughtered by Duke, NC States... or worse coming up short vs Western Kentucky's and ODUs do nothing to help the base that is ECu. There has to be a happy medium between the two. ECU isn't going to get fixed overnight, and AAC should have known (which I suspect they did) that ECU is a project. I do believe that ECU could be a basketball gem if they ever got their act together but its going to take alot of patience, and alot of work to fix the program.

This is basketball, you fool no one by beating 10 low majors or multiple D2's. It gets you nothing and nowhere to dress up a your record with creampuffs like that. You don't want to start the season with no chance and cost the team if you picked up a surprise player and surprise success.
That seems to happen from time to time with almost every other school so I don't know what we shouldn't plan for the best not expect the worst every season. There is no excuse to even lose to schools like that as much as we do with the budget and finances we have paying coaches 3 and 4 times as much as those schools and guarantee home games for many of them.

You really think most fans give a crap if you beat NC A&T and some D2's. Maybe some of our fans are dumb enough to fall for that and don't know the difference between the D2's or MEAC or MEAC's and Big Souths from the CAA we've were playing under Lebo but most of the basketball world isn't. The most press or excitement in the fanbase we have gotten in recent years as bad as we sucked is the times we actually played Duke or UNC. That's for sure.

When CUSA paid Jerry Palm to tell us how to schedule and we ignored it he said you schedule the best teams you think you are capable of beating. So for instance if we think we are a 150 type RPI team we play a bunch of 150-175 RPI teams. That's how we should be scheduling most of the schedule relative what your expectation are that season. If your expectations are still to be scheduling mostly 300+ teams like like Lebo did that's never acceptable with the kind of money this program was paying him and now Dooley.
