SNL Cast Lay Off The Trump Jokes After Their Moms Scold Them
The country is growing tired of all the Trump bashing. As for SNL, they will be back to bashing Trump next week.
Quote:Saturday Night Live has taken a rare break from mocking President Donald Trump, with one segment even admitting it’s been a good week for the administration.
Unusually, both guest host Amy Schumer’s monologue and the episode’s cold open avoided politics – a rarity in the Trump era, in which Alec Baldwin typically appears to impersonate the president.
The Weekend Update segment devoted only three minutes to politics, and the episode’s only other jab at Trump was a throwaway line during a parody of The Handmaid’s Tale.
The episode opened with several of the cast members’ mothers joining them on the set in honor of Mother’s Day. Several of the moms made fun of SNL for its habit of piling on Trump.
Kenan Thompson’s mom told him that she likes the show, ‘except for all of the political stuff’, adding ‘We get it!’
When Mikey Day reminded his mother that he was in a production of The Crucible in high school, she replied that the play about the Salem witch trials was ‘a lot like the witch hunt against President Trump.’
‘Enough with the Trump jokes,’ said Luke Nell’s mother. ‘And why doesn’t SNL ever talk about crooked Hillary!?’
Chris Redd’s mother was fed up with the political jokes as well: ‘I don’t understand why everyone’s focused on Trump at all when you should be focused on Jesus,’ she said.

I don't mind at all that SNL bashes trump non stop... I mind that they are just no funny because they are focused on activism and not humor. I'm also annoyed that their main jab at Obama, in 8 years, was "The Rock Obama".
Eight years and that was the *best* they could do...
Bad imitations and "a storm is coming" is lazy comedy.

"Their moms" = mainstream America.
There you have it. The liberals have exhausted their best shot and have come off like the haters they are.
Where, oh where, is Dana Carvey ?
EDIT: From the article:
"Even Amy Schumer, who has made headlines before for her anti-Trump jokes, avoided politics entirely in her monologue, focusing instead on her body image and ******"
Ok guys, that there is why I picked up my TV set a few years ago and threw it in the garbage can. Garbage and low class white trash.

Exactly. I can fully enjoy political humor, even against my own party. It keeps us from forgetting we all have our foibles and at the end of the day--we are all in this together. The problem of late is the Trump bashing has become more and more about bashing and less and less about being funny. No humor is good if its not funny.
Here's the deal. What makes political jokes funny is that there is an element of truth in the joke. These days, there is barely any truth in the freaking news---so when humor tries to take it one step further in jest---there is no truth at all--and the humor just falls flat.

There is real political humor, which is funny, but the Trump bashing humor can be explained by one picture....

I didn't vote Trump. I voted for McMullen because he better fit my vision of conservative.
But I simply cannot watch most humor programs because they are becoming so tedious with the Trump knocks. It's reached the point that even good points don't land with impact because it is so frequent.

I don't know. It takes a special talent to NOT be funny about Trump. But they manage to not be funny.
He is such an EASY target. But they never hit. They couldn't hit the broad side of a barn from 2 feet away. It almost has to be intentional!

Trump is ripe for ridicule but the thing most people my age and older learned on the playground and if not there, learned by the time you made it to the bars, is if you can enrage someone enough they swing blindly and inefficiently in a fight.
Pour a nice drink, sit back and laugh at the insanity and instead of taking up a damn crusade and you can land some seriously funny hits.
