RE: 2019 FB Recruiting
I understand FCS recruiting is usually slow and occurs later on in the year than the P5 because it's a "fallback" for some recruits - but I really hope this gets a commitment train rolling!!!

RE: 2019 FB Recruiting
“I was just looking for the right fit for me,” Davis said. “My FBS offers, they’re good, but if you could put James Madison in the FBS with those, I know for a fact that they probably would beat the FBS schools that offered me. I think James Madison could compete in both levels at a high level.

“I just like what James Madison is doing with the program.”

When are we going to start listening to what young men (recruits, players) say over what people write on message boards? JMU Football is the real deal and kids recognize that no matter what fans on message boards have to say about it. This and winning championships is what it is all about! Silly labels are for people who don't know any better.

Haven't been keeping up with the FB recruiting of late...

Has anyone noted this potential transfer from OSU?

If we could add him to that secondary? Oh man... If I'm an opposing OC, I might never pass the ball.

Would obviously be a huge pickup for the Dukes. He was recruited hard by the Hokies (Stiney to be exact). Looks like he is already following some of our players on Twitter. I will see what Coach says tomorrow night at the Virginia Beach Duke Club event 04-cheers

One player on the roster from his high school, Lake Taylor.

LB Diamonte Tucker-Dorsey hopefully can talk him into becoming a Duke.

RE: 2019 FB Recruiting
lots of twitter activity the past few days with guys receiving offers.

almost all of them have many FBS offers....at low level ACC, SB, CUSA, MAC, service academies.

HCMH aiming high with this class. I feel confident we'll get a good share of them too.

RE: 2019 FB Recruiting
It seems like more players these days just want to win and play for good coaches. Thankfully we have great coaches and a history of success that speaks for itself. I expect us to be very successful this recruiting season.

His brother is currently on the team.

Have to think he's a long shot, but there's been recent sibling success on the team, so you never know. Also, always good to have the familiarity with the staff in case he goes P5 and it doesn't work out.

Setting up a potential transfer by building a relationship. It’s smart.

RE: 2019 FB Recruiting
Just perusing a lot of the offers that have gone out, a couple of observations on the competition we're going against the most. I haven't counted or anything, but these seem to be the usual suspects in no particular order. Not any real big surprises here.

- Liberty
- Coastal
- ODU
- Marshall
- Richmond
- Navy
- Army
- Maryland
- Several of the Ivies
- App. State
- Marshall
- Kent State
- Toledo
- Temple
- Charlotte
- Ball State
- Ohio
- Boston College

There's probably a couple I'm not thinking of, but those are the ones that seem to come up the most. A couple of things you have to realize about Twitter posts.

1. When a kid posts "Blessed to receive an offer from [insert school here]!", keep in mind that an "offer" could be anything from a full scholarship to a preferred walk on. We don't really know. In FCS, a lot of guys are on partials.

2. When you see kids posting pictures from places like Clemson, Tech, or Louisville, it doesn't necessarily mean they have an offer from those schools. Those are often from camps or that school gave them a field pass to a game very early in the recruiting process. They cast wide nets with sophomores and juniors, so you have to keep that in mind.

3. The fact that many of the guys we recruit have offers from the academies and several Ivy league schools is not a coincidence IMO. HCMH and his staff realize that an intelligent, talented football player >>>>> a talented football player we think we can get through admissions.
