ECU Club Baseball is heading backing to the National Club Baseball Association World Series hoping to repeat as national champs.

Concerning ECU's Tanner Duncan in last year's series, "On June 1, Tanner led the ECU Club Baseball team to a World Series National Championship, winning 1-0 in ten innings over Central Florida. He was almost perfect in the World Series, surrendering no runs and only five hits in 18 innings pitched. He won both games and was named the NCBA World Series Most Valuable Player."

Duncan previously tried out for the ECU varsity team 3 times and was rejected. After the championship he was signed by the Houston Astros, being the first club baseball player to jump straight from club ball to an affiliated team since 2003.

Cool story. I wonder if he was a late bloomer, had a couple bad tryouts, or what... seems to be doing great in the minors, hard to believe he couldn't make the ECU squad.

I wonder if Godwin knows these guys and has them in his back pocket pending a roster disaster.
