RE: Syracuse announces details of Carrier Dome renovations
These are badly needed improvements. I’m very excited for Syracuse here.

I’ve been there three times - twice for football - and I could not believe how spartan of a facility it is. That’s a really ugly building on a really pretty campus.

I hope that the $120 million project is the starting point because I think it needs every nickel of it. Honestly, I was hoping they would tear the whole thing down and build a whole new one, but that certainly would’ve been very expensive.

I’ve never been in any building that was so warm physically but so cold aesthetically. I also don’t understand how your name can be the Orange and yet there’s almost no orange anywhere in that building. It’s all just so overwhelmingly gray.

It is a loud building and the fans were very nice. I have really enjoyed my experiences there overall. However, that building needs a lot of money put into it to bring it up to ACC standards.

Just look at this thing. How does this fit into the rest of the buildings in this photo? And this is probably a flattering photo of the facility.

thru 2020: New roof, giant scoreboard on a moving track, LED lighting, WiFi improvements
thru 2022: A/C, widen some concourses, bathroom work

School apparently is comfortable with the money situation for the first $118M

They do expect to do more work in later phases on seatbacks, luxury boxes, seating...possibly restaurants and a hotel

The exterior will be improved and the Dome will most likely be attached to the white roofed building in the picture. It is undergoing a major renovation at this time too.

Timelines are slowed down because they can do minimal work from mid Sept to mid May the first 3-4 years...they want little to no impact of the teams playing there.

I've been twice as well; once for football and once for basketball.

I am so glad it's getting redone, it was becoming...shall we say "vintage".
