W&M Basketball in Blow Gymnasium
Which one of you used to black out "morial" every August? Sounds like something a frat guy would do as part of a scavenger hunt.

RE: W&M Basketball in Blow Gymnasium
I definitely remember the dead spots in the gym floor. In the late '80s, I played intramural hoops there and lots of pickup games, which seemed to run non-stop when the floor wasn't reserved for other reasons. Hornsby would run with the students all the time, and no one bothered him even though he was an MTV star during that era. I remember the line snaking out the front door to walk/dance through the gym while Hornsby filmed his iconic video.

I also remember filling in as a spare body during informal women's team practices at Blow during the summer, and being shocked at how dirty they could be underneath the bucket when fighting for rebounds. And you didn't want to be on the receiving end of a Tiffany Stone elbow.

That I know nothing about. Sounds like the perpetrator posing the question to mask their guilt?

That matches what I remember. Let's see if I can get this right after all these years -- two courts in a T configuration, with a removable (folding?) wall between them. The team's games were played in the back gym farthest from Richmond Road -- that is, the crossbar of the T. I believe that for games, the movable wall was opened up and bleachers were set up on that side, and I think the teams both sat on that side.

The Bruce Hornsby video looks like it was filmed in the "front" gym -- the stem of the T. Where you can see a basketball hoop in the background, with a dark wall behind it, I think that's the movable wall.

Back in the day, I think W&M also played a few home games at the then-new Hampton Roads Coliseum (now Hampton Coliseum). The "Big 5" tournament was played there as well.

I remember that I missed the last game ever played at Blow -- against VMI, I think. A few games had already been played at the new W&M Hall (now the Kap), and my parents wouldn't believe me when I told them there was a game that night.

Your memories match with mine, other than I started school the season after the "Hall" opened and I never actually saw a game in Blow.
