It's a bad stat. Pretty much all advanced stats people agree. It's too dependent on what other players do. A great hitter on a bad team probably won't have a ton of RBI because the rest of his team sucks.

How about this; you can just ignore the RBI stat the rest of your life. OR, you can start a movement to try and convince the world how bad a stat it is. You can even start a website. Rbisuck.com

I’m probably in the minority but considering he’s thrown 100+ pitches his last several outings I wouldn’t be completely shocked if Berry gave him an extra day of rest and pitched him Thursday. Probably won’t know for sure until Monday or Tuesday

"bad stat" is a poor choice....

it's a relevant measurable how you structure your lineup...

just like slugging % vs. on base percentage.....you don't put your worst slugging % guy in the 7 spot when his OBP is 5th best on the team and can fly around the bases and cover the left/right in CF.....

"arms in the air" how bald berry doesn't get it....

RE: Baseball at Marshall
lmao.....he put Donaldson in the 9th with a 10 run lead......

at least he finally got sick of that bs.....

regardless, this was a monster win for only one reason.....if we lose this and go 0-fer next week (doubtful, but plausible), there's a good chance we don't get an at-large....

we're a solid 3 at this point....

we're a solid 2 if we take care of business next week as we will most certainly be paired at blackie bear land......that's what I'm pulling for....if we can win that one, then we get to host a best 2 of 3.....

we need UM to win a few more.....

Donaldson was subbed in the game in the 7th.

I would think so. He's not 100% right now, though. Has a blister on his throwing hand that isn't completely healed.

apparently I missed that as did the MU announcers.....hmmmm....I only heard his name mentioned in the 9th....

no way I toss Sandlin in g1 if that's the case....keep applying super glue and give her another day to heal....

fwiw, UM just tied it up at bammers 2-2.....we need them black boys to win this one....

I don’t know if you hold him another day or go on and throw him Wednesday and that way he gets until the next Friday to heal up.

Regardless, I would have him on a strict pitch count (maybe 80). We will probably need him to throw a minimum of 150 pitches in the regional to have a chance.

IMO, you roll the dice (pardon the pun)......Powell has been solid....OR, Powers becomes available....

there's a reason he started Wallner today.....

read between the lines....

with the sweep this weekend, I'm pretty certain we're in.....

he needs to toss Sandlin in g2 in the first regional.....might as well jump start that bus now....

we don't have the staff to go with Sandlin in g1 moving forward......you simply have to take that chance with the lower seeds....

if we somehow make it to Omaha, only then do you switch back to Sandlin in g1.....

but that's just me how/why I would pull the trigger.....

RE: Baseball at Marshall
Id throw sandlin game 2. Hell, maybe game 3. Depends. But Berry will throw him game 1, bc hes a big puss sometimes.

Depending on the matchup in the regional, i do the same thing.

If make super regional (try not to laugh), you clearly throw him game 1.

that's a definitely a given unless a miracle happens and we host vs. a suspect opponent........talk about a YUGE if.... 03-wink

edit: to clarify, if UM is a top 8 seed, AND we are placed in their regional, AND we are a 2 seed paired up with a lower two seed, AND we take the regional.....

cue BDR...

RE: Baseball at Marshall
If two non-1 seeds win a regional, I think it just comes down to who puts in the better bid for the super. Doesn’t matter who was in the top 8 regional or what seed they were.

Yeah I’m not even bothering to mention the possibility of saving Sandlin for G2 of a Regional. I would. But I don’t believe for a second that Berry would even consider it.
