We have to expect this kind of influence going forward. It has exceeded beyond his wildest dreams. Amazing really. NATO is collapsing before our eyes.

With the recent revelations out of Turkey I decided to do a google search on NATO collapsing. Read and weep. You have brought this upon us GOP.

This coming as French navy pilots are conducting combined operations aboard a US Navy carrier. And France was a pretty recalcitrant member of NATO.

NATO was constituted to win the Cold War. That's over, times are changing, and roles with them. Putin has maybe ten years to put something together militarily, after that Russia's demographics turn hard against him. As long as Europe depends on Russian oil and gas, Russia will be a player. But a military conquest of anywhere consequential probably simply isn't in the cards.

Trump and the GOP aren't destroying NATO. A changing world is changing its requirements. I have advocated building in allied interchangeability in future defense procurement. Not like the F-35. There the problem that has caused the cost to explode was not so much compatibility with the Brits, but rather the attempt to combine three different roles--fighter, attack, and V/STOL in one aircraft. Build an attack plane with longer legs, a fighter with more maneuverability, and a true V/STOL instead one plane that sacrifices some capability for each mission in order to incorporate capability for the others. An elephant is a mouse designed by a committee.

Turkey is all about the extremists.

Western Europe is destabilizing because they have followed Obama's policies of putting their own people last.
