Well, it might not be the worst thing for us to not play... Go into the C-USA tourney fully rested (assuming that we get in, which at this point is likely >90%).

The hitless wonders. Sarchet has the lone hit, a double, a was stranded on 2B. Canterino has given up a couple walks and a single, but throwing a lot of pitches. Given the CUSA tourney starts on Wednesday, I wouldn't be surprised if John gets pulled after 5 innings regardless to score.

Cruz walks and steals 2B, but stranded at 2B. We have 1 hit and 2 BBs through 4 innings. Ugh. Proctor's AVG has plummeted 45 points in less than 3 weeks, and it continues in free-fall.

2-0 FIU after five innings. Double, sac bunt, single.

With the state of our offense, that could be all she wrote.

Sarchet gets his second hit of the game (and Rice's 2nd hit)-- a solo bomb, his first HR in ages. Chase has 5 hits over the last two comes. All other Rice batters have 5 hits over the same span. Yet Chase is hitting #7 in the lineup.

Sarchet solo homers in T7!! Great to hear in the audio feed what sounds like a substantial contingent of Rice fans cheering.

2-1, FIU, heading to B7.

(And the FIU gametracker has been revived!! Yay!!)

RE: Rain in Miami
The 7th will clearly be Matt's last inning, as he appears to have hit the wall. After getting his 8th K on the leadoff batter, he's given up two singles sandwiched around a well-hit fly out. Two on, two outs. And he escapes with another fly out.

BTW, the FIU starting pitcher is not their ace, Myrick, but rather their Saturday starter. Myrtick, who I presume will start Game 2, has much better control, and a much lower BAA.
