CAA Tourney
Final regular season game between NU & Delaware cancelled.

Rain also got the better of the CofC-UNCW game, so the final standings and seeds for the tournament are ...

Final seedings:

1. NU
2. Elon
3. Charleston
4. UNCW
5. Delaware
6. Hofstra

The tourney gets underway on Wednesday at JMUs home field.

Game1: #4 UNCW vs. #5 Delaware at 11am.

Game 2: #CofC vs. #6 Hofstra at 3pm.

Game 3 Loser of Game 1 vs. Loser of Game 2 7 p.m.

Thursday, May 24.

Game 4: #1 NU vs. UNCW-Delaware winner at 11am.

Game 5: #2 Elon vs. CofC-Hofstra winner at 3pm.

Game 6: Game 3 winner vs. Loser of Game 4/5 (Lowest Seed) at 7pm.

I fully expect to play UNCW.

I wish there was a Baseball version of the NIT, where NU got an automatic bid just in case you don't win it all in Harrisonburg.

I don’t. This only works for hoops, nothing else would suffice.

I’m glad you feel that way.

Lowlights of NU’s loss to UNCW.

https://youtu.be/JssUlOaK0XE

Last night Delaware eliminated CofC 5-1. So NU and Delaware meet today at 3pm in an elimination game.

If NU wins, they will play the loser between UNCW and Elon at 7pm.

Northeastern leading the Northern Division championship game 5-0. I couldn't imagine the Huskes going down 0-2. Things get interesting later with 1 vs 2.

Congrats for making it out of that mess to reach the Championship. A well-deserved opportunity.

Obviously we want the title tomorrow, but my hope is you guys have done enough to earn an at-large bid.

RE: CAA Tourney
NU survives and advances to the Championship game, besting Delaware 7-2 in the afternoon and winning wild 5-4 nightcap vs Elon.

NU got a HUGE effort from starter Tyler Brown (7 IP, 6 H, 2 ER, 3 BB, 5 K). Jake Farrell was 2-3 with a 2B, HR, 5 RBI.

Highlights...

===============

In the nightcap, David Steihl saved our season, and nearly ended as well.

He relieved a shaky Brian Christian start. Down 3-2, Steihl tossed 3 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 3 K.

Farrell came up big again with a lucky 2-out “double” to give NU a 4-3 lead in the 7th.

But in the 8th, Steihl gave up his only hit then made a throwing error to 1B on a comebacker putting runners at 2nd and 3rd with no outs.

Andrew Misiaszek was able to give up just 1 game-tying run.

Check out the wild 9th inning for the win...

Both games if necessary will be on College Sports Live.com

Quite honestly, I think we have to win the title. I don’t think we have won enough Top 50 wins to get an at-large now. If we lose Saturday that’s 4 of 5 or 4 of 6 to UNCW.

I think the committee will hold that Top 50 W/L against us.

All I’ll say about Saturday is ... don’t let us win the first game. Finish us off.

I agree with everything above. While I think you deserve an at-large, I don't think you'll get one from the committee.

And yes, no way do I want this to go 2 games. Especially since wet weather is coming into Harrisonburg the next 2 days. If for some reason the championship can't get completed in time, per CAA rules, Northeastern would get the automatic bid because you're the highest seed left.

OK that last part I had no clue about. That wouldn’t seem right.

Creighton is the big reason why we may not get an at-large bid.

They fell out of the Top 50 about 3 weeks ago. It took NU from being 5-10 to 3-9 vs Group 1 teams. The UConn loss at home was huge too.

But it WAS the only one at home.

UNCW played 2 vs Ohio State, UNC, NC State, ECU and Coastal Carolina at home, we just had UConn.

From what I’ve heard the committee likes teams who go on road against very good teams, which we have.

But again, I still think we have to sweep Saturday.

Big win this afternoon. Looking forward to tonight's game.

I agree about the at-large. Seems pretty unlikely at this point. Tough to blow leads in the 8th inning or later against Uconn and UNCW x2 at the end of the regular season.

Let's go Huskies!

Unfortunately I can't get any of the video feeds to work. Roku, CAA.tv on computer, and Collegesportslive on the computer all aren't working for me. That's a shame..I'll try again later.
