Today, Rutgers graduate transfer, Kiy Hester, announced he will be playing his final season for Butch Davis and the FIU Panthers. Kiy was named an All B1G honorable mention at safety last year, playing for Rutgers. He had 3 INTs, two of which were returned for TDs. With Kiy's addition, that is now seven Panthers that will be eligible for the 2018 season, that did not play last year for FIU, and that were rated as 4-star recruits by a recruiting agency at some point:

1) Tayland Humphrey - DT
2) Teair Tart-Spencer - DT
3) James Morgan - QB
4) CJ Worton - WR
5) D'Antne Demery - OT
6) Jordan Woods - DE
7) Kiy Hester - S

Butch Davis is really increasing the talent level of the roster and the competition in camp. The first 6 guys listed are already all on campus. Kiy should be here soon. Go Panthers! FIU is on the rise.

Not bad. So, the Orlando Sentinel's ranking is, certainly, hokum (I knew it was, but now it is even more obviously so)

Whoops, I realized I forgot to add DE Jordan Woods to the list (4-star according to ESPN and Rivals), who transferred from Georgia Tech. He played with the practice squad all last season. So make that seven former four-star players who will be playing for the Panthers in 2018 for the first time.

Not that familiar with rosters across CUSA, assume FAU has pretty stout d-line coming back this year, they handled us well last season in their win. Curious what other programs in the league have multiple highly rated 4 star players on their defensive line? Really excited to see what Woods, Humphrey and Tart-Spencer can do for us at FIU this season. This might be first time in our history that we have enough capable guys to fill out a true 2 deep at defensive line. PawsUp!!

Not a big fan of going that strong on the rent-a-player system plus a lot of these guys are usually transferring for a reason. If you are going to start for P5 whoever, you're not looking to transfer.

One caveat, if they are a 3 to play 2 or 2 to play 2, that's much better. Guys with one year don't do much for me. Smells like a coach trying to load up as an audition for a better gig.

Actually we've won two. And all he was saying is that FAU can compete with all these schools which is nice because dumb posters acted like that would never happen before

When FIU hired Butch and FAU hired Kiffen, it was a given that those two coaches would turn recruiting on it's head for their respective schools. Both are obviously high profile coaches that will attract quality transfers to go along with a higher level of high school talent. The question is how long will they stay? If they both were to stay say at least 4 years, then CUSA football championships might reside in the sunshine state for a while.

Do not bother with this guy. La Tech and USM fans hate when FAU and FIU win. It takes away their ability to whine about other schools do not raise the profile of the conference.

The quality level of recruit joining FIU (and FAU for that matter) is definitely through the roof and much better than what we've ever had, including last year's 8-5 squad. Question is certain positions without FBS experience for FIU, but talent is an all time high, based on accolades and history. Future seems to be so bright for the once-maligned Florida schools. It's Sunshine time in C-USA.

At least 5 of the 7 former/current 4-Stars transfers (JUCO and FBS teams) have 2 years left, with 2 of them having 3 years of playing eligibility at FIU. May be 6 of 7, and only 1 player, Safety transferr from Rutgers- Kiy Hester- playing only one season. The rest are freshmen, rated the best incoming class in C-USA. I think your "smell" sense is pretty off the mark here.

Only schools with NO successful history hate to talk about successful histories....or act as if ONE recent conference championship and seven 4 star recruits (whooopie!) makes them overwhelmingly special..

Hope FAU and Florida Int'l Airport win a buncha games to help improve C-USA's stature...but, remember, La Tech and USM have been doing it for a century, and intend on doing it a lot more in the years to come.

USM fears none, but respects all...maybe you guys should give it a try..

Keep in mind that these guys didn't make it at the P5 level. Most of them were probably second or third string players who seldom played.
