Dems Say ‘Culture Of Corruption’ To Be Focus Of Midterms

No, this is not from the Onion.

Quote:Democrats are going to make prosecuting what they called a “culture of corruption” in President Donald Trump’s administration a central theme of this year’s midterm elections, the party’s congressional leaders signaled Monday.

“The swamp has never been more foul or more feted than under this president,” Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., said at a press conference on the Capitol steps.

The strategy is a bit of a departure for Democrats, who have so far focused more on advancing their own economic ideas and middle-class pocketbook agenda rather than taking on Trump.

But midterm elections have often functioned as a referendum on the president. And the strategy is acknowledgement that the opposition party may be better off swimming with the anti-Trump tide and harnessing the energy among progressives.

“The problem is that a lot of people hear that (economic) message, they agree with that message, but they’re not convinced that we can actually get it done because they view Washington as captured by special interests,” Rep. John Sarbanes, D-Md., who helped craft the new strategy, told NBC News.

“We realized that every other message we’re putting out there needs to be accompanied by a democracy reform agenda,” Sarbanes continued. “We think that that caffeinates every other message that we’re delivering.”

He added at the press conference, “The people know what happens when a culture of corruption takes hold. Government works for somebody else and not for them.”[…]

That tone was notably different than the one the two leaders struck a year ago when they laid out the first planks of their “Better Deal” messaging plan in suburban Virginia.

Trump was rarely mentioned. Instead, the focus was on giving voters a reason to vote for Democrats, and not simply against Republicans.

“Too many Americans don’t know what we stand for,” Schumer said. “Not after today.”

Probably the worst theme they could choose. Trump will turn it against them in 2 seconds.

So, they want to focus on corruption just as all of their corruption is going to come to light. Good luck with that. You'd probably have better luck focusing on which bathroom to use.

They're running on draining the swamp, making America great again, and I think building a wall.

Bwahahahaha... the party of political wiretapping and fake dossiers. If they run on this, they will not only fail to win the House, but could find themselves losing seats.

I love it when unintended consequences knock you on your butt.

I'm pretty sure the Dems' Culture of Corruption will definitely be the focus of the midterms.

lol let them run on "culture of corruption". Might as well add that to "we are going to raise your taxes". They have no clue how that is going to, like everything else, boomerang on them.

Even when you have nothing you still have to come up with a strategy.

Trump has painted them into a corner. They can't be viewed as anything other than obstructionists.

Dems have an MSM problem. They haven't recognized it yet and probably will not; which is good.

BTW, for anyone to answer: what is it with the lunatic fringe and their recent love affair with dopey hats? Weren’t the pink sock hats bad enough?
