That a pretty big buyout but it still equates to either Florida getting to games on the cheap or if USF balks at going back to Gainesville for game 3 after being burned then the Gators end up getting the first game totally free and the Bulls lose out on a lot of revenue.

That kind of stuff happens between a private like Miami and a public like Arkansas State. It's not going to happen between two state schools because politics would burn the guilty party. The buyout was set high enough to insure the game.

Buyout for each game is $2.25m.

Super-sweet deal for the Bulls, kudos to our AD.

No grounds for whining about it being 2 for 1, this 'road trip' is a two hour bus ride up I75, and if the Gators cancel a game, we pocket a whopping sum.

Are you a Bulls Fan? It's not a super sweet deal when you give away home games. It's barely tolerable, although I do understand this one.

Hopefully, we won't be doing any more 2:1's. They are terrible. We have a bona-fide program. We shouldn't be doing this, as a general principle. We did 1:1's with Florida State and Miami, so what makes Florida any more special.

Then Florida owes USF 5 million dollars the way I see it. Because if they cancel game 2, then they'd also have to cancel game 3. No way in heck game 3 isn't played if game 2 isn't also. I am not ecstatic about this deal, however. It's a terrible precedent to start doing 2:1's. Before Charlie Strong got here, we never did 2:1's. We did a 3:3 with Miami and a 2:2 with Florida State.

UCF, having an OCS with a 45,000 capacity would not allow the kind of fan participation for UF than a non OCS with a pro team stadium for USF.

Nah...trust the message board talk. Schools are just scared to play UCF.

Texas vs UCF 2007

USCE vs UCF 2013
I even remember reading that a fan or two of USCE did not want them playing that game.

Thanks for helping me make my point.

LOL

You obviously haven't been reading the posts on here by your fellow UCF fans.

Depends on your description of scared.

If this is money only, why would the A5 schools just break off and not worry scheduling.

Wait, the illusion that of having a true SOS with the other schools involved knowing your school can schedule any way you want.

I see your point.

$2.5m is a LOT of money to USF. That will make the cancellation go down smoothly.

Look, I'd prefer the deal be 1:1 as well, who wouldn't? But a 2:1 with Florida is a great deal for us, especially considering the buyout and proximity. Those outside of the state don't know it, but even compared to Miami and FSU, this is much better. Not only is Florida the #1 football brand, but they are way closer to Tampa as well, an easy 2 hour drive compared to double that for Miami or FSU, so travel costs can be minimized for the team and our fans, and if they walk away from any game, we go to the bank big time.

And let's face it: With our attendance, losing a home game isn't that big a financial loss to us, and from a fan POV, the hard-core Bulls supporters will make their way to Gainesville easily, as we will get a 6,000 ticket allotment.

Plus, we will surely make more money when the Gators come to Tampa and we put 65,000 in the seats then we do on 2 or 3 home games with 20,000 actual butts in the seats against random AAC or other OOC games.

We do have a bona-fide program, but the reality is it is a G5 program, and we need the money and the exposure against big-name P5 teams. This is ideal.

Maybe, but it would depend on who cancels that 3rd game. The contract says the cancellation payment is $2.5m per game, so Florida could cancel game two and pay us $2.5m, then if that pissed us off and we canceled game 3, we would owe UF that same amount. We can't use them canceling the game in Tampa as an excuse not to play the 2025 game in Gainesville, we'd have to pay.

But let's face it: UF isn't going to cancel Tampa. They want to play that game. They aren't giving up a home game for it, they will have their seven or whatever home games that year anyway, so they are going to be on the road that week against somebody, and playing 2 hours away in Tampa is ideal for them.

You really should be cheering this, these are big games for us. 07-coffee3
