1. Gross Total Revenue
2. TV Revenue
3. Attendance of events

4. Perception.

At least the Pac-12 is the king of the West Coast and it’s mostly flagship/land grant institutions with two prestigious private schools and it’s far enough from the next P5. The ACC is surrounded by the two giants: the B1G and SEC and its full of irrelevant schools (e.g. Boston College).

I don’t think “irrelevant” is the right word. The ACC is a Frankenstein’s monster of schools that don’t mesh too well.

Well they must have decided to "get along" for at least another 20 years when they all signed the GOR.
And not to mention that they also approved an exit fee that is 3 x their annual operating budget which is also in effect for the same time period.

RE: Gee on Future Realignment
The ACC has certainly done more to solidify itself as a premiere east coast league than say the Big 12 as a midwest. It is basically the 10 school ACC plus the old Big East all stars. They have, however, abandoned the New York and Philli markets, and the decline of BU/Cuse/Pitt football has made the expansion a relative non factor on the gridiron.

I don't know if the declines of those programs are based on the recruiting challenges and the geography though. Obviously something has slipped, but it could just be the product of bad recruiting and ADs mishandling the respective programs. Maybe someone can elaborate for me. I think the encroachment of the Big 10 for Maryland and Rutgers has also shifted some of the revenue if not the eyeballs and the actual product those schools have put out as of late.

I would add WVU and if (the ACC) can't get ND full time, take a UC and go to 16 with a North South division. The Big 10 finally came to their senses when they went East/West, and while the parity may not be there, they field the most compelling division in maybe all of sports every year.

ND’s non-football sports and a scheduling agreement would have brought financial benefit. That was the entire point. Mostly unrelated to any other additions.

Quote:Gee is trying to rally The Big 12 troops one more time with little more than a 10th of share of a conference welfare check written for 12 teams with a little no expansion incentive sprinkled on top.

The paying ten teams like 12 teams thing hasn’t been true for almost a decade and was addressed twice in this thread. It was the network’s deciding not to slash an already undervalued deal on the last round of contracts that had maybe a year left on them at the time.

Which they couldn't legally do. They could only reduce it if FMV was less than what they were paying.

Agreed. All this internet banter about the weakness of the Big 12 is just that, banter.

AZ AZ St not happening because of daylight savings time not being used in Arizona. Lines up west not east. Two hour hop for much of the sports seasons in spring and fall
