Yes, I guess he could have left as a grad transfer also. There were at least a few major schools hard after him...one being Ohio St. I heard.

Chad Pennington is the Marshall living legend that basically owns the keys to the city of Huntington. By returning for the senior season, I think Pennington will likely end up having to make a copy of the key and share it with Elmore when its all said and done.

Grad transfer?

You and the rest of the conference probably wish. But he will be in a Marshall uniform. I know for a fact Ohio State, Indiana, Louisville and Syracuse contacted him.

Right now here are his ranks at Marshall:
Points 4th with 1888 (Points: Skip Henderson 2574, 686 points to tie 687 to break the record)
Free Throws 2nd with 518 made
Asst 3rd 596 (Behind Mike D'Antoni 713, Greg White 692)
Steals 14th (Tied with asst coach Cornelius Jackson as of right now)

Would love to have had Penava back but he had to do what he thought was best for him. And a lot of Euros do what he done. Im just glad we got CJ and Jon back. With Jannson Williams, Iran Bennett and the 2 new signees in Ante Šustić and Mikel Beyers I feel we will protect the rim well enough.

Why would we wish for conference teams to be worse? Glad he's back.

I seen a lot of cheering and sighs of relief when Penava announced his decision to hire an agent on other conference schools boards. Would have seen the same if CJ and especially Jon would have stayed in.

Jon leaving as a Grad Transfer too would have been a dick move. If it wasn't for Mike Hamrick paying off VMI 350K next year for a football game then VMI would have never granted Jon's release, which means he would have never seen a senior year in college. No way we sign a home game just for the heck of it with one of the worst if not the worst team in IAA that gives away scholarships. We hadn't played them since 1996 and had only played them in 2 sports since then Women's soccer in 2002 and they was paired off with Marshall in a track meet in Atlanta in 2006.

It's kind of weird for me to say this, but I actually hope Elmore pops off and gets a lot of NBA attention. Would be good to prove to one of our previous players that you indeed can get plenty of 'exposure' in CUSA.

Good for CUSA. His performance at the end of last year means he's a name people around the country that follow college hoops will know.

The announcers were certainly high on him. If the little Baltimore school hadn't knocked off Virginia we could have rode that wave a little longer as the biggest upset of the tourney, but I'm glad they did.
