The college football landscape has changed drastically in the past 20 years or so and none of the changes work in favor of schools like USM.

I'll be shocked if we have a program in 10 years....

the lil Rock would be a nice place to locate a filly bryant picnic center......

So 3 Top 20s in nearly 60 years of D1 football. That's like once every 20 years or so. How frequently do we do that in baseball? Every couple years?

I don't dispute we could drop down to FCS and compete for National Titles. But we are talking today's program, which competes in FBS.

Two examples of programs that have accomplished much more than us and left us in the dust. Both of those teams have played in Access Bowls (i.e., modern day BCS Bowls), so we certainly didn't destroy anything.

Look, the point is simple:
We have been nationally relevant in baseball.
We will be nationally relevant in baseball.
We can win a National Title in baseball.
^^^NONE of these things are true for football.

Apples and Oranges>

1- Small college these days (Delta State, Miss College, N Alabama) was not small college when MSC won 2 championships....as a matter of fact, our schedule was tougher THEN than it is NOW......We've really only been a major college since 1976, so all this talk about what we've done the last hundred years is, well, doo doo..

2- ...and by the way, doesn't matter if it was a hunert years ago, who else beat Brer Bryant at home?

3- OK, so we've beaten more top 20 teams than ECU, Memphis, we-got U-Conned, Tulsa and purty much everyone else in AAC. So, do that make us a short person instead of a tall midget?

4- TCWho and Yooston?...Gee, do you think BOTH schools being in 2 of the largest metro areas in 'murica had anything to do with it? Do ya think being former members of the Southwest Conference had anything to do with it? Jeeezus

5-Do you remember something called segregation? Grambling and Jax State had their pick of basically all the black athletes in the South. They should have a brazillion HOF'ers!

6-IF (yes IF) 18 winning seasons in a row is no big deal, why doesn't everyone else do it?

Some of you folks need to become Wal Mart Bummer or Corn Dawg LSWHO fans so you can crow everyday how much better you are than everyone else. Anyone so bitter about USM needs to have a back up plan like BDR so you can shout S-E-C S-E-C and pretend you are somebody 03-lmfao

As for me, I'm proud of USM and our history, which doesn't mean I'm proud of where we are right now, but life sucks sometimes. 04-cheers

we often went out West to view the sights and BRING BACK COORS to the uninitiated..

Never quite as dramatic as "Smoky and the Bandit", and usually we drank it all before we got back (true story)04-cheers

Stink, I was amazed at all the natural caves and tunnels under St Louis....this is one reason why the big breweries were situated in St Looie long ago, because the caves kept the brew at a low temperature (well, that and because of all the German immigrants, of course)..

Also, didn't realize that Mardis Gras was huuuuge in St louis...

I grew up listening to Jim White on KMOX Radio so I purty much know where Granite City, Belleville and all dem places are (when guests check-in to my resort they are amazed I'm a regular St "Looie-an"!03-lmfao)

we had just moved from StL during the Rock expansion.....

and I'm certain you remember, it was the first time they had crossed east of the 'sippy and Coors was still not legal to be drunkeded in the 'sip .....03-lmfao03-lmfao03-lmfao

we whipped their lily white ones....you never forget the first one, eh? 03-wink
we often went out West to view the sights and BRING BACK COORS to the uninitiated..

I still listen to KMOX and KSHE.....

and yeah, the 'underground salt' was so cool to observe as a tyke....

you couldn't pay me to live there today, but from '65 - '74, Crestwood was a freakin' blast.....from walking uphill to school in the snow, to pond hockey, to 6 o'clock 60 degree morn' swim practice, to Crazy Frank we fk'd with.....
