OSU up 3-0 in the 4th. That foul ball will have Bartman-level implications if this holds. Arkansas is one of the top programs without a title. Just brutal.

The ball should have been caught. The play should have been made. But i wouldn't go so far as to call it a routine pop out.

That’s gut-wrenching for Arkansas and Van Horn. This series will haunt that program until they win one.

I don't know about that. the 2B is the one that ****** it all up. He went all out and kept the RF and 1B from making the play, while looking like an idiot / bull in a china cabinet by over running it and bumping into the 1B. RF had the easiest play. It practically hit him on the foot. He was afraid to call them off bc he could see they made their mind up to make the play and were barrelling down like a mack truck and was prob a little nervous bc was the "last" out of the world series. He should have manned up and called them off. Was a tough play for the 2B and the 1B. Had the 1B and 2B not been close to making the play, the RF could have gone all out and caught it. It hit in the perfect spot. Again, the play should have been made, but it wasn't super easy. Both infielders over-ran the ball and both coulda / shoulda had it....but it was a tough play. If they never tried to make the play (not suggesting they shouldn't have tried, bc they should have), the RF could have made the play much easier, imo.

I get what you're saying with the RF seeing it moving forward the entire time.....

however, he either screams at the other two to gtf out of the way or hits the brakes......you need to factor in how fast he was moving at that moment....

it was a simple play for the 2b.....1b has to turn and work it backwards....therefore, a no-no unless it's a 'fence play'.....which it was not.....

bottom line is their juices were flowing out of all orifices and they simply screwed the pooch.....

**it happens......

In the end it doesn't fall on one particular player, IMO.

There is a reason it's called no-mans-land. It is the most difficult spot to field a ball.

That is why coaches practice that particular play throughout the year (or should). It boils down to communication. Someone in that scenario should have taken charge and called the others off. No one spoke (or spoke loud enough) and so they all panicked at the end.
