When would you like your first helping of crow? Now or after North Texas “loses money by having to pay broadcast costs?”

North Texas already has high quality production capabilities, and I have no idea what crow you think I am going to eat.

Do you have ESPN Standard though? ESPN is going to require you to hire separate announcers for the feeds. (Can't just sync with radio anymore) and will require those announcers to be impartial. Plus you'll have to hire people to work certain areas in the production truck that students can't work

Plus you'll need a mobile TV truck that is air conditioned, and can move from site to site to broadcast, and you'll need fiber optics running through the campus to enable the signal to get out clearly without buffering issues.

ESPN requires a ton of work as part of upgrading to plus. We were the only Sun Belt school that already hired out its own announcers, had fiber optics, and an air conditioned mobile TV truck, and they still found stuff we had to upgrade.

We already jumped off the ESPN train once and got left behind. I think it’s a smart decision to jump on this new platform for streaming sports. It’s the future for G5’s like it or not

ESPN3 is already being phased out...AAC has a rude awakening coming next TV contract.

Actually ESPN was smart putting the games on both ESPN and ESPN3. That will force us to get ESPN as well as the $5 for ESPN+, although I do add ESPN for college football season.

Stadium and C-USATV are superior products to the games I've watched streaming on ESPN. The name appeal is not there, but the product is different.

For those complaining about the quality of ESPN streaming. Try grabbing a $35 Google Chromecast.

When I watched ESPN3 games on my Roku, I agree the quality was not good at all. However, when I pulled the ESPN3 game up on my phone with the watchESPN app and then cast it onto my Google Chromecast it was perfectly clear. I don't know why but it's what I found to work.

Stadium is good but CUSATV was and is a joke. So many of our teams (including UAB and USM) had terrible productions on CUSATV. ESPN + will require all of us to improve our productions. I am thrilled to see us moving away from CUSATV. And did I mention ESPN + is cheaper?

USM upgraded our streaming capabilities during the off season.

This is the key question. Everyone is dancing around or crying about what they can or can't view, but THIS is the only thing that really matters. How much money, if any, are the CUSA schools getting out of this "deal"?

Apparently no one knows, or everyone (well almost everyone) is too stupid to care.

I think no one knows because its not worth mentioning...If it was a good amount of money being given out then we would all know and would be mentioned in a press release....Let's face it, ESPN is a sinking ship, they are trying everything they can to keep afloat because they know Netflix, Amazon, Fox are kicking their asses....

The amount will leak out eventually. It’s probably not much—the remaining inventory being sold here is largely what would be considered 3rd tier content—that’s the least valuable stuff a conference has. Most of these agreements signed with other conferences included a significant amount of financial help in upgrading facilities to comply with ESPN3/ESPN+ standards. Id be shocked if the CUSA deal didn’t include a nice ESPN payment to each school to significantly offset those upgrade expenses.

Had something similar. PS4 is my main device and I use PSVue for my channels. ESPN app on PS4 is awful so I use the browser on WatchESPN.com and stopped having issues. Now if I could get the SEC CBS stream I'd be good to go.

FWIW Ingram said that UAB purchased better equipment to help with this. Don't disagree though that it was awful.

RE: New Multi-Year CUSA TV Deal With ESPN+
In the end if you want to see your team play FB or BB you now have ways of sitting in your home (like most of us do...even home games) and watching.

The only thing stopping you is willing to spend some cash on it. From reading this board over the last few years. That seems to be a problem for some of you and its also one of the reason no one is willing to pay CUSA. If your own fans dont value the content enough to spend $100 a year. Then you have your answer on why a Network wont spend millions.

If you want a perfect view without anything screwing with the picture.....

there's a easy way to get that for home games. As I said at least you now can see 90+% of the sports your team plays away from home....even a blurred picture is better than not being able to watch

I have to disagree a constantly slow buffering and stoppage of stream especially on some of the ESPN3 feeds is not worth watching at all. I will cut it off and listen to the radio
