No - if any AAC schools gets the golden ring / ticket to a P5 conference its gone in the bat of an eye. 04-jawdrop 04-cheers

Again...timelines matter. I think everyone would quickly sign a 5 year/$12 Mil GOR, not so much a 10 year or more GOR.

You wouldn't need a 5 year GOR. No one is going any where until 2025 anyway until the other P5 GOR's are up. If the P5's stay status quo at the point you still wouldn't need the GOR because all of the AAC would stay with the lack of a place to go at that point too. 07-coffee3

The entire point of the gor is long term stability. Big 12 has 8 more years under their current deal. ESPN paid them not to expand already.

I'm just hoping for major separation from the g4.

You're not kidding about ESPN paying the Big 12 not to expand. They were 3 days from doing it when ESPN threatened them with future contract doom and talked them into a slight raise.

I don't have a doubt in my mind. The reason the Big 12 looked so foolish and disjointed a few years ago is because they were ready to pull the trigger but ESPN put a stop to it. It was cheaper for ESPN to give the Big 12 several more million to close up the pro-rata clause of the contract than to pay $20M+ per year for an additional 2-4 more teams.

Yep. I'm guessing UC officials privately have a similar version of what happened as do Memphis pres, AD and boosters. The Big 12 was on the verge of adding 4 teams.

What? We're banned from even mentioning it? It's not like somebody started a thread. He just made a post and I responded.

And it isn't crap. It's history, not anybody pimping anything.

And FYI, Aresco mentioned realignment with the Big 12 and the fact that was not a fun time, in that interview, so how the heck is that not on topic?
