D1 baseball teams "could" get another full time assistant
per Kendall Rogers twitter this morning:

SEC is putting forth legislation to add a 3rd full time paid assistant for baseball and softball. Currently there's only 2 full time assistants along with a volunteer assistant. There's the possibility for it to be submitted by September and voted on in Spring of 2019. If approved it will be for all of D1.

Not sure if this would be a positive for most teams in C-USA from a budgetary POV.

Agreed especially since football was allowed to add another full time assistant.

I’m against it cause most cusa schools probably don’t want it budgetary wise. Just another way to distance themselves (sec)

Yup, this was my immediate thought as well.

I’d rather have a couple of scholarships.

Can’t do that. Title IX would have a heart attack

RE: D1 baseball teams "could" get another full time assistant
I'm all for getting more opportunities for young coaches. Can only help college baseball.

As far as Charlotte goes, under the previous AD I would guarantee that we would not pay for another assistant. I think we would be willing to with the new AD. We don't even have a Director of Baseball Ops person. We had a grad student volunteer for a couple of seasons but he was free and then he graduated. How many baseball teams in C-USA have an ops person? Just curious.

EDIT:

Answered my own question. From looking at the rosters it appears that 7 C-USA teams have Director of Baseball Operations positions, LaTech and Marshall have a position named Director of Player Development for baseball, and it appears that Charlotte and UTSA do not have Director of Ops position for baseball. Not sure about MTSU since they have a new staff on the way.

Rice has a “volunteer assistant” (who makes money from camps and the like.. Probably 30-40k/year), and two ops guys in addition to the head coach and two “full-time” assistants.
