Anne Donovan dies
A lot of CUSA legends have been passing on lately - a shame. I think I got to see her play a game for ODU at UCLA my freshman year there? Tall women die young (so do tall men too but the life expectancy for tall women is even worse). We had a 6-4 Rice volleyball player die in her early 40's a couple of years ago, and a 6-5 basketball player die in her early 30's. Very sad.

Just anecdotally I’ve heard that through the years. Is there any medical explanation?

RE: Anne Donovan dies
I watched Anne play numerous times for ODU back in the late 70's to early 80's. When she was playing together with Nancy LIeberman and Inge Nissen they were among the top 2 or 3 teams in the nation. I watched them play against the Russian National Team that was touring the USA prior to the Olympics and narrowly lose to that team. Many thought that ODU would have defeated them had it not been for ODU's standout backup point guard who played behind Lieberman missing the game. She had temporarily left the team to practice with the Canadian Olympic team.

Anne will be missed by all of Monarch Nation.

RE: Anne Donovan dies
I'm 6' 3", 230 and fully understand how load wears on the joints and organs....if I see 70 it'll only be due to my genetic makeup....

it's a given the percentages will show bigger people die earlier.....it's a load issue relative to mass...

the heart is nothing but a pump.......it could've been genetic related or it just wore out.....it's really no different than a well designed engine vs. a faulty design....

like cancer, we all have that gene in hibernation......it's simply a matter whether it decides to come out and play.....

such is life....
