1) The Selection Show was completed without knowing all 64 teams in the field. I didn’t know this was possible. PAC-12 title game was still on-going so the bracket was released with “Washington or Houston” as the 12-seed, depending on if Washington auto-bid’ed its way in or didn’t leaving an at-large for Houston.
2) 4 teams played on their home court.
2-seed Syracuse in the Carrier Dome
3-seed DePaul in Rosemont
10-seed Arizona in Tucson
11-seed UAB in Birmingham
3) The Metro did not admit a single team into the tournament. Seriously, zero. Memphis won the tournament but was on probation.
4) Missouri State & Cleveland State entered the final week both on the bubble, but shared a league (Mid-Con) that did not have an autobid. Missouri State was selected as an at-large, Cleveland State was the final team out.
5) The bracket release screwed up at one point, and had to redo a region because one of the 15’s were wrong.
6) Howard, a MEAC team, was one of the First Four out.
